Russell is cursed!!! - He's not getting that pole, but was clearly getting it if Verstappen doesnt crash!!

He didnt sound confident when he said it wasn't double yellows, and sounded like a man nervously making an excuse for the stewards

Guessing Teds interview with Toto was delayed and just after it finished.

I'm surprised they didnt just Red Flag the session, with where Max had crashed
  • That lap can’t stand. It would be a shocking precedent to let it stand with just a “lift” through a double waved yellow

Depends if it was Double or Single Yellow Flags though - Chris Medland is saying that if it was Double Yellow Flags then doesnt matter if Russell lifted or not, the time would have been deleted regardless
So Vasseur is saying that there were no Double Yellows
Crofty now saying that Double Yellow Flags were for Russell's inlap

Seems from Davidsons analysis he should keep it.

Dunno why as I always back the Brits but something about Russell winds me up

Its his continuous whinging that winds me up, oh and his bulbous eyes are too close together.

Interesting point from Jamie Chadwick that it should have gone straight to double waved because of the nature of the corner.

I thought his interview with Fisi was a bit shitty. Fisi didn't have the data or anything and could only go off what he'd seen on the feed.

Anthony Davidson’s analysis was excellent there. Talked us through what was happening really clearly while also learning what had happened himself.
Interesting that the discussion straight afterwards was that it should have been a double yellow, which is fair enough, but they seemed to be suggesting that Russell should have just known it would be a double yellow and therefore should have aborted.
However, I feel like Russell isn’t getting enough credit here for playing by the rules as they stand and taking advantage of it.

Other challenge with modern f1 cars is that lifting over 100m does piss all in terms of your overall speed of travel

Definitely a single, not double waved yellows so even if it should have been George followed the rules so fair the lap stood.  I don’t mind Verstappen as he is obviously so talented but good to see he is human after all !

Can't let Golden Boy Russell have a lap deleted!

FIA licking the arse of their "driver director" again, they have to try and make this season compelling somehow I guess.

Should have been doubled waved yellows at a minimum, if one car can go wide and slide off there, another one can just as easily.

Apparently he "lifted off" in that corner and lost 0.08 seconds, however the electric regeneration from that gave him an extra tenth in the final corner and straight.

    Make it make sense

Would make sense if Ferrari split their strategy. If viable,

I agree that it looks spectacular, but it doesn’t help for seeing what’s going on properly. You need the view down the track to appreciate the nuances of a tight battle.
It’s a bit like in football when you get an extended shot from the touchline. All very interesting but you can’t see the wider context of what’s going on.

I’d appreciate the drone shots more if they showed them retrospectively.
