He needs to develop more as a counter-hitter, Agassi was the ultimate at this, develop surgical returns and passing shots, deep groundstrokes, stand inside the court to take time away from the opponents. he said he had an epiphany when he lost his first US Open final to Sampras because he just gave him too much time. Michael Chang was only 5' 8' but crazy fast, before them Jimmy Connors; he used to say he never lost just ran out of time.1

I think I heard him comment about Agassi in an interviewEugenesAxe said:He needs to develop more as a counter-hitter, Agassi was the ultimate at this, develop surgical returns and passing shots, deep groundstrokes, stand inside the court to take time away from the opponents. he said he had an epiphany when he lost his first US Open final to Sampras because he just gave him too much time. Struggling with the big stage? Has got to the last 4 of, arguably, the biggest tournament there is, winning £900k into the bargain. Yeah, right bottle job.EugenesAxe said:Arfur struggling with the big stage? finding problems with stuff he needs to shut out3 -
Zverev was excellent today. He overpowered Fery.1

Getting distracted by the camera on the umpires chair is a pretty bespoke thing to have to deal with, you only get that kind of thing on the biggest courts, finding the crowd distracting is something only encountered there because of how close they are.charente addick said:

Let's give him a chance to develop. He's not long finished at Stamford as concentrating on his education as well as his education
Not many outside the top 100 wil have ever played on a main court, unless drawn against a defending or former champion, likely in an early round too0 -
That wont do him any arm at all,no disgrace being beaten by someone as good as that. The more he can get to play these players the better he will get,so he will have to go deep in the tournaments he will now play in to try and get somewhere near this level,he is a quick learner and I honestly feel with the right coaching,he can overcome the size differences and just maybe he can get his name on a big trophy.1

Fred Perry, Bunny Austin, Roger Taylor, John Lloyd, Tim Henman, Greg Rusedski and Andy Murray are the only British men to get as far or further than Arthur in a Grand Slam tournament I can think of since the 1930s.
Magnificent performance Arthur. Keep going and see where you get.1 -

Not disputing that. I get the impression some are criticising. I list those names to demonstrate just how well he has done to reach a semi final.PrincessFiona said:

I wonder, especially given his heavy French connections, whether it might not be worth him spending a lot more time playing and practicing on clay. I mentioned previously that the only two players of his stamp to win a Grand Slam event in the last 50 years were Gaston Gaudio and Michael Chang (both exactly Fery's height) and that was the French Open. The fact that clay slows down the pace of the ball, reduces the advantage of big servers and aids someone who has the quick footwork that Fery possesses has to be of interest surely?2

Given time I’m sure he will. Probably didn’t qualify this season.Addick Addict said:I wonder, especially given his heavy French connections, whether it might not be worth him spending a lot more time playing and practicing on clay. He got knocked out in the second qualifying round by Pedro Martinez (7-6, 4-6, 6-3), having beaten Elias Ymer (6-2, 7-5) in the first round.LenGlover said:

Jan Choinski the British No3 through to the final of the Brawo Challenger Event. Now inside the top 90 in the live rankings.1
-
Henry Searle through to the Challenger Event final at Nottingham. Following on from his recent victory in Dublin the 20 year old looks a decent prospect - coached by Dan Evans.0
-
Third British player through to Challenger final - Fearnley at Hall of Fame event in the USA.
Good week for British tennis after Fery's display at Wimbledon.1 -
Thought it worth mentioning Henry Patten won (regained) the men's doubles with Heliovaara.
I was watching one of their earlier matches and the commentator mentioned they are apparently very popular because of their no-nonsense attitude. A couple of shots later, Patten owned up to touching the net (just) when winning a point, when neither of the opponents or the umpire had even noticed it2 -
Choinski and Searle both win their Challenger Events today - second victory of the season for both players. Choinski now inside the top 80 in the live rankings. Searle just outside the top 200 and the 20 year old continues to impress.

When did they stop having the Wimbledon finalists bags carried out for them?

First set Zverev.
