On the kids shirts you put:
‘please gamble responsibly, when the fun stops STOP!’0 -
Usually it's something like the club foundation or community trust.
Wet Spam put the Bobby Moore Foundation on theirs before.1 -
Could put the museum logo on the kids shirts7

Well said👏redbuttle said:
That we are still in the championship and have quite a while to sign players before the season starts. Also. the majority of our fans are actually behind the team and the manager. You only have to go to games to see that.DennisBooth said:

That forum makes me laugh constantly digging this place out with hardly any provocation, lots of back slapping and nob gobbling to the high chief with the adage that it's the best Charlton forum when it gets about 10 posts a day and they can't even finish the England match thread stuck at 1-1 🤣 ...... My thing with betting sponsorship is a mixed one
Part of me, probably the bigger part of me says "let people have agency of their own lives, be adults and make their own decisions" if someone is so weak of mind they start drinking Stella or smoking embassy because it is on a football shirt then I don't hold much hope for them full stop
The rest is probably more in line with the consenus and based more on a dislike of hypocrisy than anything else
Gambling, online gambling is scuzzy. With valid reason booze and cigarettes aren't allowed to be advertised on shirts due to the harm they can cause so the use of them shouldn't be promoted. Yet the damage caused by gambling addiction is at least as bad for people and lives.
Ultimately, I can only speak for myself. If us being sponsored by some hawkish online betting firm means we can sign a good midfielder then I don't really care11 -
Good to see @DamoNorthStand and @Henry Irving draw out the commercial side in a few posts earlier. It’s hugely important, given the new rules, in determining what we can spend. I’d heard a few weeks ago, and intimated it on the new shirt thread, that RSK were not going to be the new sponsor and a betting company was lined up. For whatever reason, we ended up going back to RSK with our tails between our legs and they ended up with a better deal (for them) than before. We are currently very much in the shadow of even our near neighbours and pretty much all of the division.
Commercial deals at Charlton aren’t going to fall into our laps. A lot of work needs to be done and that’s not evident at the moment.I’d also say that, in an ideal world, I wouldn’t want a betting company involved but I don’t agree that it shows no ambition by signing a deal (given their ban in the Prem). If we were successful, that’s a win for us AND the sponsor. They take their brand to the next hopeful and we get the opportunity to benefit from the exposure the Prem brings and the levels of sponsorship that offers.11 -
But going by Damo’s numbers I don’t think it does mean that. Good midfielders are costing £2/3m and he said that front of shirt sponsorships are hitting £1m. Now we aren’t starting at a base of £0 so we’re not talking budget changing money hereCarter said:My thing with betting sponsorship is a mixed one

Thanks @TelMc32
These things happen and usually no one outside the club hears about it.
This time it has leaked which is a surprise given how little transfer news seeps out these days.
It does beg a few questions, none of which I expect to get an answer to here, about why the betting co. deal collapsed, who authorised it, does the departure of Ed Warrick and the arrival of Terry Brown connect to this and would things have been different if we had a CEO in place?
Anyway, back to transfer rumours.4 -

My guess is it didn't fall apart but instead was nixed due to the huge negative reaction it would have garnered. People hated the Betdaq sponsor and threatened to boycott the entire season over it, and their logo was incredibly nondescript compared to most casino/betting site logos nowadays0

Unequivocally betting damages and in some cases wrecks people’s lives. That’s not even up for discussion. I understand the argument that people should take responsibility for their own lives but in reality it’s not always realistic. Betting isn’t illegal but as you say online stuff is pretty scuzzy. I don’t think it’s moral to support or encourage it. If we can’t sign that midfielder then so be it.Carter said:My thing with betting sponsorship is a mixed one
