The right decision. Any news on Key?
    Key stays. Somehow.

I suspect it’s less about Key and more about who else would take the job. If I remember right, Key was basically the only candidate last time

Key should have been the first out the door .

As for the new red ball captain, I don’t think we could go far wrong with appointing all rounder Sam Curran.

Averages 35 with the ball and 24 with the bat. If he’s the answer, England are screwed

I just hope the captaincy isn’t forced on Root. I think he retires sooner rather than later if that happens. Could have multiple years left if he’s allowed to focus on just batting.

After the weakest T20 Indian team I can remember in the one sided series, India have all their big guns back for the 50 over match.
55-0 England and Duckett is cracking it after a slow start.

Anyone would think these players hardly play any 50 over cricket.

    Oh hang on

He hasn’t played a test match in 5 years because he isn’t very good.

We didn't get to the position of losing 23 of our last 36 ODIs or to the heady heights of being ranked 8th in the world without having our very own 50 overs domestic competition.

Thanks to the poxy Hundred our domestic 50 over competition is basically made up of reserve players.
A real shame as going back as far to the 70s I've loved watching the various 50,55,and 60 over competition's

And not to forget the 40-over John Player League on Sundays. Even that's twice the duration of cricket our batters are comfortable with.

I used to laugh sometimes watching the John Player League on a Sunday with the run up restrictions.
Bowlers would sometimes run up and down on the spot before running in to bowl to try and give themselves the impression of a proper run up.
Seems a long time ago now.

As a live spectator, I loved the 40 over Sunday League, as it's the perfect length for a Sunday game. Start 1:30?, so an easy start in the morning, finish 6:30.

T20s are great for evenings, but a T20 on a Sunday feels way too short, even with the glacial over rate these days. Conversely, 50 over games are a bit long.

Brainless from Sam Curran, asking Buttler to stand up on what is a bouncy track and then bowling legside bouncers. That's 18 wides we've given away out of 110-2 off 20 overs.

I'm going to adopt that for SC in future.

" Now coming on to bowl more legside bouncers, Brainless Curran !"

Nice touch by Sky to play, just before the presentation, "Like A Rolling Stone" on what is Robert George Dylan Willis Day.
