    Stan Prior, scorer of the 1st ever
    @CAFCofficial top flight goal, practising in the shooting gallery in the Valley's state of art gym, September 1936. Prior, who cost a £20 donation to Swindon Corinthians, scored 32 goals for #cafc in just 56 games.

    Where did he go after us @Henry Irving  ? 56 games is a short run.

    Brief spell with QPR (3 goals in 5 games) in 1937/38 then Cheltenham in Aug 1938.

    Won two promotions in four seasons with us and scored on his third, second and first division debuts.

    In the 35/36  season he scored 11 league goals in 10 appearances with 7 goals coming in the last five league games.

    Billy Kiernan, who was this year elected by fans to the #cafc Hall of Fame, played over 400 games for @CAFCofficial over 12 seasons in the 40s, 50s and 60s. He later worked as an accountant and antiques dealer.  

    This signed photo was recently donated by Stuart @CafcFacts

    Newly acquired medium sized Pinnace cigarette card of Tommy Dowling (centre), the Plumstead born scorer of the 1st ever #cafc league goal in 1921.

    The small cards are easy to find but the larger versions are much rarer as collectors had to post in multiple small cards to get them.

    The first Evening Standard Five-a-Side tournament was held in 1954 and
    @CAFCofficial were the winners, beating Spurs in the final.

    Billy Kiernan was part of the #cafc team and at the Hall of Fame induction this week Billy's family presented his winners' medal to the museum.

    I noticed that the Maribor captain presented us with a pennant yesterday.

    That would be nice if it made it's way into the museum.

    It did last season.  We'll have to wait and see.

    Tom Hanks has a programme on TV about the second world war. I happened to view an episode about the declaration of war following Polands invasion. They showed a picture with people reacting to the news. A feller looked remarkable chipper, then noticed that he must just have been pleased with the latest team news!

     Dawson scored in a 2 - 0 win v Man Utd in front of only 8,608 on 2/9/39

    The low gate might have been connected to the other news that WW2 has just broken out!
