    All kicking off with DeChambeau, just one shot off the lead, is looking likely to receive a penalty for treading down the long grass and subsequently improving his ability to swing. Whether he did so or not and whatever the penalty, DeChambeay can take comfort in the knowledge that Trump has the R & A on speed dial.

    Looks like a 2 shot penalty and now on  -5.

    It does look like he stomped around a bit & the grass on his back swing got trampled down.

    He did. We'll never know if it was deliberate but he had more room for his backswing afterwards.

    It's the same area as knocking leaves/branches off a tree in a practice swing, it doesn't have to be malicious to break the rule.

    If Patrick Reed did the same there would be a huge outcry. Doesn’t matter if it was intentional, he improved his lie and rightly got punished. Like Faldo’s comment before the Open I think this could actually drive him on to contend.

    De chambeau got exactly what he deserved imho.

    Yep, fully onboard with the penalisation. My only nag is I think they are pretty much all at it with such infringements so it looks a bit targeted choosing Bryson when in contention to call someone up on it.

    I'm sure Trump must be furious with the penalty. DeChambeau always invites controversy.

    Not a great fan of his.

    Would love Fleetwood to win but a big ask.

    Anyway, golfs been really good the last two days. Sam Burn was incredible yesterday and I can see him winning it.
