I would expect those players got a move to another top club. Not ones one or even two divisions below them.sam3110 said:Pepe at Arsenal
Di Maria at Man United
Phillips at Man City
All clubs have stinkers
Poster said that League 1 & 2 clubs are baulking at taking Apter & Tanto. That is the difference. All clubs sign players that don't work out - our problem is we paid top dollar (for us) and now cant move them on.3 -
No Apter in the squad today....0

Christ, the ladies team seem to sign someone every half hour!

Mohican and Mohawk are completely different tribesAddicksAddict said:
I don’t think The Last of the Pawnees has quite the same ring to it.cafcfan said:
A common and very annoying mistake. The Mohawk warriors traditionally plucked out (not shaved or cut) all their hair apart from a small 3" square on the crown which was braided and decorated.AddicksAddict said:
Maybe a Mohican? Our first Native American.clive said:
A fringe player, maybe.superdulvertonred said:My 18 year old grandson has just had his hair cut in New Eltham and also there was a as yet unannounced new signing also getting his hair cut! He didn’t ask his name but he told the barber that he had just signed. I know that several of the players use this barber so let’s wait and see who it is. My grandson said it wasn’t Karlan Grant
The style of hair falsely attributed to them is actually a Pawnee Nation one.0 -
I have it from a reliable source in Eltham, that there will be two midfielders on Trial today…
Jimmy Crewcut (he’s short and a very creative midfielder, he’s able to pick a pass out that cuts through the oppositions back line and really exposes their defence)
and
Christopher Combover (he’s a very physical and pacey central midfielder who has a tendency to drift out wide, however provides perfect extra cover for wing backs to push forward)

They can actually. Choose not to waste the wages for someone likely to not play.Berkshire1970 said:StrikerFirmani said:Not sure signing Grant is a good move my concern, likely be this seasons Burke signing.

Spending what we spent on those two to have them loaned back to league one within half a season is a failure.ShootersHillGuru said:
Or perhaps when promotion was achieved, the owners and Jones sat down and assessed given the overhaul needed and the time and money available to get the players in, that there would need to be some calculated gambles which were better than 50/50 but would provide a squad needed. Not everything needs to be viewed as abject failure which it seems to me you always turn to as a first option. Certainly Olaofe and Apter have thus far beeen fails but perhaps that’s built in rather than your perception.AberystwythAddick said:
Why would I find the owners spending unacceptable.SouthLincsAddick said:
I don’t think people can grasp how difficult it was to recruit for such a competitive league with the 3rd worst budget (or they don’t want to understand), especially when we had to overhaul most of the L1 squad. We would’ve been at the back of the queue for all signings, not being able to offer wages remotely close to the rest of the league. Our only choice would’ve been high risk signings, L1 players who maybe could make the step up and experienced championship players with dodgy injury records. Had we been relegated then there might been some merit to the criticism, but we were never in a relegation scrap and were ultimately successful. There was a high wastage in the recruitment but I believe that would have been part of the plan. What do you want, a no risk recruitment policy and a return to L1, I don’t?AberystwythAddick said:
Other clubs are irrelevant in this situation. So are hypotheticals on what we could spend.NabySarr said:
Olaofe was what £1.5m? Apter rumoured at £2m+. That’s really not much in the grand scheme of things and the money the owners have put into the club over the past few yearsAberystwythAddick said:
But in this case it was every expensive signing, going poorly.NabySarr said:
If they expected every expensive signing to go well then they were very naive in the first place. One look at pretty much every teams transfer business each season would tell them that this isn’t uncommonAberystwythAddick said:1 in 1 out might make this a very very slow window. I wonder if the owners will tell NJ he has to stick with Apter and Olafe as he only bought them last season.I’d be furious if it was my money that had been wasted like that. You can’t say that you would be happy with the situation if it was your money.
Look at any championship club and they’ll have signed players for more that have flopped. I’m sure we will have more flops in future years if we stay at this level. I know we aren’t used to spending money so it maybe feels worse to us, but this is normal and if the owners have a huge problem with it then they probably shouldn’t own a championship football clubIt is what we have spent and they are two of our most expensive signings of the last 10 years. Certainly the two most expensive of the owners tenure. The money was paid because they were told that these were the players we needed to progress. 6 months later those players are back in league one, 12 months later we are seemingly trying to either sell them or loan them out again. That’s is unacceptable, there’s no spin you can put on it that changes that.We have one of the lowest budgets in the league those fees were huge for us.Perhaps what you find ‘unacceptable’ is the financial disadvantage we are under, in which case you should direct your frustration at the owners. Personally, I think they’ve been outstanding, to me they building a sustainable future for the club. We have come a long way since they arrived. They were told that these players would be the ones to progress us, they paid the money required and were subsequently sold a pup.I find it very funny that some of you think the owners wouldn’t be annoyed or angry with this. Us placing a significant portion of our transfer funds on two players who are now being shipped out after less than 30 appearances Between the two is absolutely mental and should be criticised. With posters saying that we are now trying to sell the two of them after less than half a season with us is a failure.3 -

Considering Gough mwamba and Enslin have made the bench today can we assume Apter Mitchell and Karoy may be off.Blackpool already in for Karoy, assume Tolaj sale means Plymouth can now afford Mitchell, Apter remains to be seen.Even Mannion not making the bench could be a sign Plymouth are desperate for a keeper as well2

Despite all of them being involved in Slovenia surely you don’t pick up 4 injuries during trainingLargeAddick said:

If that’s it, and he wants 4 years (just an assumption, no knowledge), then we’d be paying just over £3m for a proven championship striker. That seems like a bargain.ShootersHillGuru said:
Well maybe but £15k pw isn’t digging deep in The Championship is it ? If we aspire to remain a Championship club then that’s the going rate and higher that we need to suck up.ElfsborgAddick said:
Ahearne-Grant may come in on a free but I cannot see him being on less than 15k a week. He'd have been on big dough at West Brom.ShootersHillGuru said:Let’s be honest. We desperately need to bring in a striker and if the rumours about our budget are true and I suspect being third or fourth lowest are correct then someone like Grant without a fee is probably good business. Has the experience we need and his age is good. Injuries to his hamstring are a concern but we are where we are in terms of who we can afford to get in. I’ll be honest I don’t know enough about Redmond to reach a verdict but I have loosely followed Grants career since he left us. Without the club blasting upwards of £8 million on a striker I’d be interested to see who the critics would have us sign ?
The board have dug deep here.1 -
