    At the same time I doubt we’re only paying him £10k a week as a proven Championship player for the last 7 years.

    He was really awesome at the World Cup and would have been an exciting spark in midfield .

    Just as a target is an interesting one. Out and out winger from what I've seen at the WC , makes me wonder if the 4231 does have a bit more to it than a Plan B and we will spend a significant fee on a wide man

    Seen a couple comments about Leaburn being not good enough, and i think it's incredibly harsh. I'm a fan of his, one of the best forwards in the league in the air (7th for aerial duals despite not having lots of minutes). I think he should have been given more game time last season, and wouldn't be surprised if he had a breakout year soon.

    Leaburn was beginning to look like he was acclimatising and then dykes kind of took his place in the team. Hoping for big things from him.

    Don’t think Grant has ever played off the right in his career and TC is awful on the right in comparison to on the left. I definitely think they’d be competing for the same position

    He didn’t set the world alight in league 1, he’s 23 and keep hoping. Others should be getting a chance over him now.

    He was 15th of our 15 goal scorers for goals per 90 and 9th for shots per 90, so 6 players shot less frequently, and scored more often.

    His link up play is lacking, being no.1 for inaccurate short passes per 90 and lowest for pass completion in the entire squad.

    His XG suggests he should have scored 5 goals, he netted 2.

    Outside of aerial duals, he offers very little. He may well come of age, but I think he is at best a fringe player at Champ level.

    Carey came out of the blue but was supposedly on his way to Derby on the morning we signed him

    Carey came out of the blue but was supposedly on his way to Derby on the morning we signed him
    Yeah Carey wasn't even rumoured prior to signing him. Found out about the derby move a fair while later. Whereas we were told the knibbs move had fell through and he later signed.

    I’m open to Mbick potentially overtaking him, he’s another some wrote off far too quickly. Both should be part of the squad but it’s not as if either are first choice, it’s on them to take their chances when they get them and both have a lot of potential. Look where Godden was at a similar age.

    I agree. Failing to impress. For his size he has no physical presence.

    The whole Apter situation is so curious. When I bumped into Curtis Fleming at the beginning of last season, he said Apter had been our best player, and was so unlucky to be out of the team because of Josh's injury. Josh never came back. Then Rob went off on a loan that didn't really work out. And somehow, during this period, he's become utterly rubbish? I don't really get it.

    I saw some games at Sparrows lane in the year that Nathan had the U21 gig and as Smith and Pigott are now 34 and 32 respectively and Grant is 28 he wasn't involved with Nathan on a daily basis and the talk from the Dad's I spoke to at the matches was Joe Gomez was the out standing young academy player who was still only 16 at the time. 

    The time line was 13 years ago and Karlan was 15.

    "Not a lot of people know this" but Joe Gomez's mum is called Linda 😃

    Karlan has admitted he was immature when he was younger like 95% of CL as teenagers who weren't thrown in to play 1st team football at 17.

    I hope he can find his spark and still has some of the pace he had 10 years ago and can use his experience that he has acquired in nearly 400 apps in league and cup mainly in the Championship.

    Writing off a target man striker at 23 is just silly. That type of player typically peaks late twenties/early thirties 

    He had a poor season in front of goal, but we know he can score goals because he has done before. He also needs crosses and we just didn’t deliver that well enough all season. You also fail to mention his stats in terms of defending from the front are very good, which we know Jones values highly. 

    This is certainly a big season for him, the main thing last year was that after some nightmares with injuries he managed to stay mostly fit all season. Now it’s time for him to kick on and I have confidence that he will
