I would be surprised if he got a move to anyone that finished higher than us last season. He did ok, but I don't believe it to have been anything better than filling a gap that we desperately needed filling at the time.killerandflash said:Not sure I've seen this mentioned here

I usually will give any player who's signs a chance but I'd be worried about Aribo coming back.
Talented for sure but seems to have lost his way. And he will need to graft in this team as we aren't gonna be a team with possession so he will need to work his own opportunities which I just don't think he will. Bit of a luxury player in that respect.

What bothers me most about the signing of macnamara is it reduces the number of quality players we can bring in who might just transform the way we play - unless he's just joining on a minimal wage with the hope he can start playing again and it gets reviewed if he proves useful - its bad news if he's one of the remaining 3 or 4 that we seemed to think were left to come in. Of all the positions i was hoping that last 3 or 4 players might play, right back wasn't one that's for sure. The fact it may mean Ramsey is closer to the door is an added downer. The next 2 or 3 signings need to be exceptional / blow me away level or i'll be dusting off my takeover files.0

As you say, none of the signings to date appear likely to really elevate us to the ‘ruthless’ levels discussed earlier in the summer. We were told to be patient and wait for quality and I’m sure the club are majorly aware of the need to inject real quality now.1 -

Pretty sure the ruthless comments was more about outs than ins. Anderson going is part of that, as is the (likely) non re-signing of Clarke, Fevrier and Coady as well as none of those who went out on loan last season looking likely to play a big part for us this season.ns9 said:

Quite a big leap from “He wants to play in Germany” to “He didn’t fancy playing for Jones”. There are lots of reasons to stay abroad including experiencing different cultures, less pressure, being cheaper for a PL club in the future and many more. It’s clear you think players don’t like NJ, you refute any evidence to the contrary and are now making big assumptions. Okay - this assumes we are definitely going to a back 4. I was still labouring under the impression we would be playing with wing backs as a 3 suits our defenders, is tried and tested and is the one part of our team that was good. We may have experimented with a 4 in pre season but ??? Do you think 2 or 3 players incoming is going to be enough to transform us ? If i started the summer looking to bring 7/8 players in, we've signed 1 so far that will have an impact on our attacking playNabySarr said:

The club can't win with some of you I swear to God.
As it stands we need a first choice right winger, a first choice box to box midfielder, and depending on if they believe Coventry will look better with a top midfielder next to him, either a replacement for him or genuine competition in the holding midfield role.
On top of that, it would just be if we can further improve positions, Tanto and Kanu out and a championship striker in, Apter out and a second right winger in, that kind of thing

Kiernan Dewsbury Hall a top premiership midfielder is very complimentary about Nathan Jones. Our manager is highly regarded and we are lucky to have him.
