Funnily enough since Stjohn’s latest post around the 'central position' . Reams has claimed he too has received info that a midfielder is defo coming in.

    Stinks

All hail Stjohnshill the true ITK!!
    maybe Reams is Stjohnshill  ;)
    Would be brilliant that 😂👏🏻
    Erm no.

Not sure I've seen this mentioned here

Queens Park Rangers are interested in taking Liverpool's 22-year-old English left-back Luke Chambers on loan after he returns from the Reds' pre-season tour of the USA. (The Athletic - subscription required)
I would be surprised if he got a move to anyone that finished higher than us last season. He did ok, but I don't believe it to have been anything better than filling a gap that we desperately needed filling at the time.

I usually will give any player who's signs a chance but I'd be worried about Aribo coming back.

Talented for sure but seems to have lost his way. And he will need to graft in this team as we aren't gonna be a team with possession so he will need to work his own opportunities which I just don't think he will. Bit of a luxury player in that respect.

The Aribo of 2019 would be fantastic.

Unfortunately, this would be the Aribo of 2026.

Footballers are not like fine wine. They tend not to improve with age...

What bothers me most about the signing of macnamara is it reduces the number of quality players we can bring in who might just transform the way we play - unless he's just joining on a minimal wage with the hope he can start playing again and it gets reviewed if he proves useful - its bad news if he's one of the remaining 3 or 4 that we seemed to think were left to come in. Of all the positions i was hoping that last 3 or 4 players might play, right back wasn't one that's for sure. The fact it may mean Ramsey is closer to the door is an added downer. The next 2 or 3 signings need to be exceptional / blow me away level or i'll be dusting off my takeover files.

He will get better and when he joined us he had played very little football in the previous twelve months due to injury.

    That’s just so incredibly incorrect

I definitely thought Aribo was way younger than Grant for some reason. How is he 30!

We need 2 right backs in our squad? So obviously we were going to sign one and it doesn’t mean anything regarding Ramsay. If he leaves then we will then need to sign another one to replace him

There’s definitely big pressure on the remaining 3 signings, especially as that’s where it appears the absolute vast majority of our spending budget will be spent.

As you say, none of the signings to date appear likely to really elevate us to the ‘ruthless’ levels discussed earlier in the summer. We were told to be patient and wait for quality and I’m sure the club are majorly aware of the need to inject real quality now.

Just no point. My post about the effects of Josh Edwards about having no effective cover just wasn't enough to get through

He was talking about being ruthless in the sense of letting players go

Pretty sure the ruthless comments was more about outs than ins. Anderson going is part of that, as is the (likely) non re-signing of Clarke, Fevrier and Coady as well as none of those who went out on loan last season looking likely to play a big part for us this season.

    Bring me Holsgrove
A friend of mine knows Holsgrove. He told NJ he wasn’t interested despite Jones best efforts to sell the club and project.

He wants to play in Germany. However, I would  love him to change his mind

Quite a big leap from “He wants to play in Germany” to “He didn’t fancy playing for Jones”. There are lots of reasons to stay abroad including experiencing different cultures, less pressure, being cheaper for a PL club in the future and many more. It’s clear you think players don’t like NJ, you refute any evidence to the contrary and are now making big assumptions. It’s so boring just reading you regurgitate the same couple of opinions over various threads

That’s fair, if you’re going to be playing in a team that’s getting battered most weeks might aswell do it against Kane and Olise rather than Burnley

Okay - this assumes we are definitely going to a back 4. I was still labouring under the impression we would be playing with wing backs as a 3 suits our defenders, is tried and tested and is the one part of our team that was good. We may have experimented with a 4 in pre season but ??? Do you think 2 or 3 players incoming is going to be enough to transform us ? If i started the summer looking to bring 7/8 players in, we've signed 1 so far that will have an impact on our attacking play

We would have still needed a RWB to come in even if we stuck/stick with a 5 at the back.

wing backs, not right backs - we don't need any more defensive wing backs unless we've gone even more defence obsessed than we did last year

    "we need a right back"

*Signs a right back on a free from an established Championship club*

Nooooooo FFS not that one! Sign a better one!

    "we need a right back"

alternate universe where we spend money on a right back

Noooooo FFS stop wasting our precious money on right backs, we need to spend money on wingers you fools!

The club can't win with some of you I swear to God.

As it stands we need a first choice right winger, a first choice box to box midfielder, and depending on if they believe Coventry will look better with a top midfielder next to him, either a replacement for him or genuine competition in the holding midfield role.

On top of that, it would just be if we can further improve positions, Tanto and Kanu out and a championship striker in, Apter out and a second right winger in, that kind of thing

We still have 3 weeks to get things in motion
glad you're not the manager - i started the summer thinking we need a better first choice front 5/6

Kiernan Dewsbury Hall a top premiership midfielder is very complimentary about Nathan Jones. Our manager is highly regarded and we are lucky to have him.

Any decent rumours about us signing attacking or creative midfielders ?

We need at least one decent signing in that part of the pitch….
