‘Preparing to market stadium naming rights once the club returns to the Premier League to avoid settling for an under-priced 10-year deal while in the Championship.’

@PragueAddick will be able to remind us but who gets the cash from that?

I will have to look it up to be sure, but I am fairly sure that most if not all of it does go to London and not the club. However, and I must say straight away that I like Lyn Garner, she is nobody’s fool, unlike her predecessor, but I find her statement a bit odd, in that they have been trying and failing to wrap up a deal since the  contract started, so I am a bit surprised that it comes across as something new. But Kieran Maguire said a while ago that stadium naming rights values had been falling, sponsors had found they are not quite the win -win that had been assumed. Certainly if it was a tough sell then, its even worse now with that lot in our division.

What a mess. £19m and no end in sight. I fear that this Crystal Palace news means the only rational solution will be to sell the thing to those cowboys. But that will not greatly please the core support who seem to have turned against the place, and will blame it at every oportunity, just as we did at the Croydon dump.

Sell it to them at cost price since it's inception.

    About £470m initial cost

Another £250m to fix it up for football

Ongoing operation costs, further maintenance and of course the cost of the land itself,

Let's call it a cool £1b, take it or leave it Wet Spam

,I’d love to see it, but take it from me Daniel Kretinsky will be a tough negotiator. He is good at negotiating property deals. If he had stuck to that at Sparta instead of doIng UEFA coaching badges and negotiating for footballers, they would not be second best to Slavia.

You’ll probably get a lot of West Ham fans agreeing. It’s an awful stadium for football and a nightmare to get home from

I wonder what that site would be worth for housing development. Let west ham find themselves a new site, who gives a toss about them?

I would think their 99 year lease would have a clause(s) preventing that - regrettably.

It was built for a one-off, specific event. I would guess it’s not going to be future proof and even Arsenal’s ground surprised me how tired it looked when I went there. That 99 year lease might not look so good as time goes on, particularly as the game keeps developing as it is and fans want more from their experience of going to a match.

No one is happy here. Even the club has problems with the stadium and the contract. The supporters hate it, we all hate the fact we have yet again saddled the taxpayers with a hundred years of potential debt and got rid of yet another public asset.
This is the result when you have people like we had sitting around a table trying to please everyone and not pleasing many.
I think we are nearly at the stage of letting West Ham having it for nothing but I read somewhere,(can’t remember where), West Ham will want a payment to take it on.

I am not allowed to say anything about the political position of those people who have landed us in such a mess, and essentially betrayed decent West Ham fans and given West Ham a free (crap for football) stadium.
I can tell you this for nothing, it wasn’t Count Binface who did it.

Well, what I can say to that is that in  early2018 during the OS campaign, I secured a meeting with Sadiq Khan's Chief of Staff, a guy called David Bellamy, a Norwich supporter as it turned out, and very smart and aware of all of the issues. Kevin Rye attended with me. I raised the concerns that had already been floating around that London would reluctantly conclude that the only way out of the financial mess would be to sell it to West Ham. He fixed me with a rather steely gaze and said, "That is not going to happen."

Previously in early 2016 I had spoken with Barry Hearn, who told me that both Levy and Steve Parish were seething about the deal. A few weeks later, I was fairly gobsmacked to take a call on my mobile, which turned out to be Parish. He certainly confirmed what Barry Hearn had said, but explained that while most of the other club owners in London agreed with him, they were reluctant to openly criticize another club.

This is all 8 to 10 years old, of course, but I don't see any political capital for Sadiq Khan in any kind of giveaway, let alone going back on his word and selling the stadium to West Ham in a cut price deal. And it might just provoke Parish into speaking out publicly - after all, they are looking to build a new stadium themselves, and are not expecting London to pay for it.

Not a lot of undergrowth for David Bellamy to rummage under

West Ham United can confirm it is aware of the announcement from Joint-Chair Vanessa Gold that she has reached a provisional agreement to sell her shares to a consortium of PCP Capital Partners, led by Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, in partnership with Ashland Forest Capital Partners.

It’s a bit of a convoluted process.  The Golds had an agreement to sell to Kretinski but that deal didn’t proceed due, according to them, to a change in circumstances. Whilst they’ve now agreed a deal with Staveley, existing shareholders (including Kretinski) can now purchase the shares before that deal completes.  She may end up with nothing at all.

I didn't realise the Kretinsky deal had failed to be completed. I caught up with a scan of Czech press coverage. It seems that he has been wrong-footed by Staveley because she was prepared to buy all of the available shares, whereas Kretinsky's offer did not, and at a higher valuation. They pointed out that it's quite unusual for Kretinsky to be outmaneuvered in this way. He is reported to be "considering all legal and contractual options before deciding whether to match the offer or challenge the transaction"

That sounds to me like a recipe for a lot of bitter, drawn-out and expensive boardroom-level wrangling.

    Lovely stuff😉

Oh is that right, Amanda? So how much are you offering us to take that thing off our hands? Shall we say £1bn ? Looks like the going rate for new 65,0000 stadia and this one is barely used…

Kretinsky actually failed to complete on two options @PragueAddick.  He had them on both the Gold and Sullivan shareholdings. The latter was available to buy at a discounted price over a period of time, so he would build up his stake.  He let that one lapse as well as the separate Gold one.

If he now wants to prevent Staveley from getting a foothold, he’ll need to stump up tens of millions more than his original options would have cost him.  Odd that he now thinks he can pursue legal options to block Gold’s sale, when he himself let his own deal lapse.

Perhaps his check 🇨🇿 got lost in his own post 🤷🏻‍♂️😉
