Coady is the reason that we are still in this division, unless the owners/management get their fingers out pretty damn quick we won't be saying the same this time next year.NabySarr said:
In fairness Coady has played at the top level because of his ability on the ball. He can’t run but his quality on the ball is very strong for this level. He’s better than Coventry at least anywayBraziliance said:The result doesn't matter, but style of play does.
We don't appear to have progressed and that matchday squad wouldn't look out of place in League 1.
Nevermind Coady & Dykes, they'd only make it look more average. We need quality that can look like assured professionals on the ball.
Got a feeling we will be right down there after the first 2 months. Not a chance we can match last seasons great start6 -

I had forgotten we were playing today, sounds like two half teams for us neither with any midfield0

Oops there I go again... Dribble dribble0

Didn't go or watch live but have read every comment on here and that was AWFUL. Get Coady and Fevrier back PDQ if they're not going to be replaced. Also someone said Chuks was there today? How is that man without a club!? I won't be investing any more of my time until the so called owners get their cheque books out with purpose.2

As a minimum, we need a forward thinking ball playing CM (ideally 2) another winger and a striker and that’s for the starting line up.Southbank said:I think Jones, Koumetio, Mesic Ramsay and TC could start against Derby.
The other places have yet to be filled based on this performance.
But still, two weeks to go so no need to worry.5 -

The idea of all these games is to know your best side for the opening league games.I reckon we have around 10-11 defenders on our books who could all conceivably be in with a shout. How in the next two games can Jones know his best defence. It is also worrying that at the moment there is no sign of any incoming play makers which is what we urgently need.T.C.was today the only player on our side who caused them any problems.I am usually very optimistic ,but at the moment I can see no improvement on last season, and feel we wont get off to the decent start we had last year.I hope I am wrong, and am certainly not panicking, but time is not on our side.2

We need 2 central midfielders good enough to properly compete in the championship as a minimum. Doc isn’t going to get any better and Coventry seems to have hit a wall it’s almost like he refuses to pass forwards or shoot if he ever gets close enough to the goal.DamoNorthStand said:

Couldn’t agree more. Awful performance potentially gap could have been bigger with the chances they missed towards the end.Clem_Snide said:Absolutely horrible performance.
Not sure what we got out of that? Team look lethargic, one paced and at the moment completely devoid of any attacking ideas.
People saying pre season is about fitness should be equally worried as those bemoaning the performance. Wimbledon looked fitter and stronger and several of ours looked to be running through treacle from the start.
No idea why Aissimwe is playing or still involved, he is not going to be here. Are we trying to force Daniel Kanu out? Because if I was him and was sitting on the bench watching Olafoe doing a really shit impression of a pro footballer I’d be looking for the exit door asap.
Not quite into huge concern territory yet, the club surely know what the main issue is (midfield) and you have to trust that they address it.NA looked lost and not sure why he is involved, Enslin looked twice the player when he came on and I know it’s on the other side but showed some hunger
MDK being behind Tanto in pecking order is awful. At two down it looked like Tanto was more central and we should have tried DK there instead. Most worrying for me those two starters in central midfield, ran off the park by Jake Reeves , a player most wombles don’t think should be in their squad let alone starting3 -

We probably won't, but we also probably won't have 2 and a half months in the middle of the season where we had no left wing back because our depth is going to be a lot better. So that should balance it out a bit. At the moment I think we will be at a more consistent level rather than ups and downs, and probably end up in a similar spot to last season around 18th/19ththickandthin63 said:The idea of all these games is to know your best side for the opening league games.I reckon we have around 10-11 defenders on our books who could all conceivably be in with a shout. How in the next two games can Jones know his best defence. It is also worrying that at the moment there is no sign of any incoming play makers which is what we urgently need.T.C.was today the only player on our side who caused them any problems.I am usually very optimistic ,but at the moment I can see no improvement on last season, and feel we wont get off to the decent start we had last year.I hope I am wrong, and am certainly not panicking, but time is not on our side.3 -
No one plans to watch Casablanca. It is one of those films you come across when flipping channels and say "O no! Not f'kin Casablanca again", then decide to just watch until the end of that scene, then the next scene, and so on until the end. At which point you say that you no longer have time to start another movie, but really it is because any other movie would be an anti-climax.golfaddick said:
Casablanca it is in 15 mins then. Thats after High Society has ended....which is not a patch on the original imo.3 -
Similar to when you flick past naked attraction then?,…..shit did I just post that?!😬 yeah Casablanca is great!!wolfgang said:

You'd have thought after two years of doom and gloom that some would be a little bit more hesitant over predicting our demise... Third time lucky for them I guessNabySarr said:Would love to dig out the post match comments from the Wimbledon friendly 2 years ago. Would imagine a lot of the posters being negative today were saying after that game that we’d never get promoted that season1 -

personally think Coventry and Docherty getting shown up, Cov can't defend and doesn't move the ball forward, what is his purpose?4

Very sad.Clem_Snide said:
Does Steve Brown know that you have literally written his match summary and passed it off as your own.RonnieMoore said:We lost 2-0 to Wimbeldon few season back in preseason and we got promoted ..going to be a good season … it’s pre season result don’t matter , playing two mixed up teams never gives a decent bonded performance .. and the change in systems through the game is difficult to keep up with …. But no team going to play their starting team or give away the tactics in these types of games …and every player is at a different point in their fitness … two poor goals we let the player run though our midfield for first and again we allowed the player to have to much space just outside our box ..
A new low, even by your standards of plagiarism0 -
Never one to be too bothered by pre season but we are clearly mincing around as a club and have a swuad that has relegation written all over it .
all well and good trying to progress budget wise on a minge of a budget but unless you spend the bucks the chickens will come home to roost eventually and we dodged the bullet last year but we may not be as lucky this season .
why bother owner a club if you’re just happy to guff around bottom of championship at best16 -
Indeed made worse by the fact that we have completely run out of bread. The Prince-e-Paul said:Well it was only Gillingham.......
Apologies for my match post. Should have known full well it wasn't Gills as;
1) We played them last week
2) We could beat them
3) The other manager on the touchline today is revered in our house, above any other manager in the football league.
My god what was served up today was a sh!t sandwich. I know we weren't quality last season, but please Nathan, sort it out. My eyes are hurting already and the season hasn't started!
I can only hope that at least one quality ball playing midfielder is coming in. We have all known our need for this since the middle of last season..........
NJ was a defender and is a defensive coach/manager.
Actual bed wetting on hold for a little longer but am getting the Tenna pants out ready.........0 -

We’ve all known since early last season that our midfield needs creative players.
i really don’t get our recruitment strategy as it looks as if we are setting up for a relegation scrap. My prediction is that if we get off to a bad start, NJ will fall out with the club and he could be gone by October/November.3 -
I think yesterday illustrated one thing if nothing else. It isn't to say there are not issues to solve all over the pitch but midfield is an emergency and we probably need two players of a high championship standard. Maybe a buy and a Premier League loan.0

If Wimbledon had been the Championship side and us the League one, you would have said it was a comfortable win against lower league opposition. Only Leaburn did himself justice.3

I can walk to Plough Lane from
my home, it would take around 30 minutes if I avoid stopping in a pub along the way to the match but football is much more than just a game so a leisurely pint is usually a welcome part of going to a match for me. I didn’t go yesterday because we all knew there wasn’t a real game on and the result of the training session kick about was always going to be nailed on because it’s in Johnnie Jackson’s nature to at least try and win and if Nathan’s still looking to bring in another 3 or 4 players (?) then there’s zero chance we would have seen anything that would have given us a clue about the team’s chances for the coming season. The last friendly before the start of the season is usually a much better game for that, more so this season because the last ‘friendly’ is also going to be a Carabou Cup match. Turning up and watching yesterday would have been a distraction as we await the start of the season but it’s been too hot for even that TBF. I won’t be panicking just yet.
