He's been playing there for a lot of pre season.AberystwythAddick said:Weirdly, I wouldn’t mind seeing what Tanto was like on the wing. Provided it’s before the season starts. He’s got the athleticism to play there, just not sure what’s he’s like with delivering a cross. He obviously struggles with end product in terms of finishing, maybe moving him else where may work in his favour?
There was also a disastrous game where he played there and got completely overrun because he didn't know how to do the defensive work. Coventry away after Bell got injured I think?fenaddick said:

The midfielder I think we should try and sign is Cameron Humphreys from Ipswich. He’s had 2 good league 1 loans now so is ready for the championship. Only 22, creates chances but also doesn’t shirk his defensive responsibilitiesShould be available on a permanent and from a club we appear to have a good relationship with given how much of their shite we’ve bought in recent years6

I wouldn’t mind Humphries he was very good the year we got promoted.NabySarr said:The midfielder I think we should try and sign is Cameron Humphreys from Ipswich. RE Holsgrove. It shows the level of disparity between clubs as I’ve read Wolves fans saying at 3-5 million that he’s worth a punt and it would be low risk.
compared to us where it would be our largest signing of the season13 -

Part of our problem with our wide players, as I see it, is that they often receive the ball very deep so have travel a long way with the ball before they can get a dangerous cross or shot in.
They, ie TC, also get doubled up on as there is no other wide player to stretch the opposition back line.
4231, especially with more pacey players along with TC, should mean us pressing and winning the ball higher and with better players in the "2" who can carry and pass the ball forward our forwards could be picking up the ball in the last third rather than the half way line.18 -

buy him and chuck him in a 15,000 grand a week contract and not even have to think about it1 -
Nothing is imminent regardless1

Really? I have not seen much evidence he can play in any position. Yes, I am bitter and twisted because, of all last season's signings, I tipped Olaofe to be the biggest success. Now I just want to cancel his contract so we do not end up paying most of his wages for a season.Callumcafc said:... Olaofe who can play in those wide positions.1 -
And possibly because the players in front were not moving into space or were being easily marked. Creativity is needed off the ball as well as in possession.Lincsaddick said:
But is this because he has been told to play this take no risk and keep possesion role ?thetomahawkkid said:I think by the comments on here that Coventry is more marmite than mustard!
Personally, I have been very disappointed with his performances. He works hard, but is such a negative player - too much sideways and backwards.1 -

Re Holsgrove -
He’s 26 and has one decent season to his name. Does he want to take the money and see if he gets games at Wolves and try to get back to the premier leagueor go somewhere to be the main man, for a bit less money but regular football
personally I really don’t get all the hullabaloo about this guy - he’s Scottish and if he was any good I’d expect him to be playing regularly for them. If Dykes plays, and he’s decent but fairly limited, but Holsgrove doesn’t get a look in for a very average Scotland, is he really all that.20 -
I agree. We always seem to be playing 15 metres too deep. I suppose that’s as a consequence of setting up primarily to defend. Perfect example of why those two new midfielders are absolutely necessary.Henry Irving said:Part of our problem with our wide players, as I see it, is that they often receive the ball very deep so have travel a long way with the ball before they can get a dangerous cross or shot in.

Only made himself available for Scotland just before the world cup, was aparently holding out for england beforeSwisdom said:

To be fair, that's also a reflection of where Scotland are strong, and what they've wanted out of their strikers.Swisdom said:

Their strength is in midfield, with the likes of McGinn, McTominay, Doak, Gilmour etc, while they have no top class strikers, so someone like Dykes gets minutes because he works hard and hopefully creates space that the talented midfielders can exploit. Holsgrove has a lot of competition to get into the Scotland midfield.

Why Holsgrove? He’s always been an elite level ball progressor (fwd passes, prog passes), and in the last 12 months he’s become a dominant ball winner (duels, poss won) in the middle of the pitch to go with his attacking impact.

You need an abacusCallumcafc said:Alright here’s a list of foreign / exotic / based abroad defensive minded central midfielders that I’d like to see us target
- Jordan Holsgrove
- Juho Kilo
- Anzor Mekvabishvili
- Matias Siltanen
- Timi Elsnik
- Frank Adjei
- Markus Karlsson
- Adrion Pajaziti
- Santiago Castañeda
- Seo Jae-Min
- Panagiotis Andreou
You can probably pick holes in each of them for one reason or another. Not gone too deep with the research but thought it would be fun to throw half a dozen names out.2 -
We shouldn't need to get a subscription to get fitness updates on our injured playersCrispywood said:

In terms of his progressive passing stats, holsgrove is one of the best in Europe. Makes sense with our stat driven scouting that we’re interested. I still really doubt we’ll get him.1
-
Sorry but if he has already said he isn’t keen on us, move on, his agent is only going to fuck us about anyway, we can’t be left hanging on the most important position we need a player in.10
-
You don't need an update though, why should the club be telling all and sundry about our squad? Some clubs don't even tell you the length of contract a player signs when they join them (Luton i think in particular are famous for this)charltonbob said:

135 new posts and I can't believe there's been no discussion about Docherty and particularly Coventry?
To be honest I'm not sure Coventry is up for the challenge, thoughts?10 -
Looked impressive on his youtube goals videos. I thought he had enough about him to become a cult hero. Spelling was never my strong point.wolfgang said:
Only by Sandgaard. I do not think any fans had a view on him either way before we signed him.Ferryman said:

Yes, we’ve been here before. Many times.Swisdom said:i see a lot of talk about Holsgrove but has anyone here actually seen him play? he had a half decent season last year but is 26, not a kid. I fail to see why he is being lauded as the second coming of christ.

I think it was mainly Karl Robinson who was bigging up Ben Reeves.gilbertfilbert said:
I was thinking Kirk, Ben Reeves, McGrandles… And so on.
Charlie Kirk was indeed eagerly anticipated. Was he the biggest let-down in our club's history?
McGrandles has largely fulfilled expectations, just not with us.2 -
Only when we are a goal down in the last 5 minutes ....2-3-5 formation.Covered_End_Lad said:
Yes you might not be getting the byline and crossing in but your positional sense should be the same you just cut in a bit more when you have the ball, we wouldn’t be playing a left winger and left inside forward at the same time would we?Covered_End_Lad said:
Playing off the left in a front 3 or a 4231 kinda means your a winger thought right?Sword65pf said:
Playing off the left and being a winger are different though aren’t they?, he’s not an out an out wideman is he?Covered_End_Lad said:
Played there for quite a while now, probably last 4-5 years he’s mainly played off the leftSword65pf said:Grant isn’t an out and out wideman though is he?
We've seen it before
