The midfielder I think we should try and sign is Cameron Humphreys from Ipswich. He’s had 2 good league 1 loans now so is ready for the championship. Only 22, creates chances but also doesn’t shirk his defensive responsibilities

Should be available on a permanent and from a club we appear to have a good relationship with given how much of their shite we’ve bought in recent years

RE Holsgrove.

It shows the level of disparity between clubs as I’ve read Wolves fans saying at 3-5 million that he’s worth a punt and it would be low risk.
compared to us where it would be our largest signing of the season

Part of our problem with our wide players, as I see it, is that they often receive the ball very deep so have travel a long way with the ball before they can get a dangerous cross or shot in.

They, ie TC, also get doubled up on as there is no other wide player to stretch the opposition back line.

4231, especially with more pacey players along with TC, should mean us pressing and winning the ball higher and with better players in the "2" who can carry and pass the ball forward our forwards could be picking up the ball in the last third rather than the half way line.

Really? I have not seen much evidence he can play in any position. Yes, I am bitter and twisted because, of all last season's signings, I tipped Olaofe to be the biggest success. Now I just want to cancel his contract so we do not end up paying most of his wages for a season.

Re Holsgrove -
He’s 26 and has one decent season to his name. Does he want to take the money and see if he gets games at Wolves and try to get back to the premier league

or go somewhere to be the main man, for a bit less money but regular football

personally I really don’t get all the hullabaloo about this guy - he’s Scottish and if he was any good I’d expect him to be playing regularly for them. If Dykes plays, and he’s decent but fairly limited, but Holsgrove doesn’t get a look in for a very average Scotland, is he really all that.

I agree. We always seem to be playing 15 metres too deep. I suppose that’s as a consequence of setting up primarily to defend. Perfect example of why those two new midfielders are absolutely necessary.

Only made himself available for Scotland just before the world cup, was aparently holding out for england before

To be fair, that's also a reflection of where Scotland are strong, and what they've wanted out of their strikers.

Their strength is in midfield, with the likes of McGinn, McTominay, Doak, Gilmour etc, while they have no top class strikers, so someone like Dykes gets minutes because he works hard and hopefully creates space that the talented midfielders can exploit. Holsgrove has a lot of competition to get into the Scotland midfield.

Why Holsgrove? He’s always been an elite level ball progressor (fwd passes, prog passes), and in the last 12 months he’s become a dominant ball winner (duels, poss won) in the middle of the pitch to go with his attacking impact.

In terms of his progressive passing stats, holsgrove is one of the best in Europe. Makes sense with our stat driven scouting that we’re interested. I still really doubt we’ll get him.

You don't need an update though, why should the club be telling all and sundry about our squad? Some clubs don't even tell you the length of contract a player signs when they join them (Luton i think in particular are famous for this)
