the last 50 pages are why we are going to sign these players - never been more convinced our transfer dealings are mainly influenced by this threadMartinCAFC said:
Can't be spoiling some fans' misery now. Even after signing Alli some were still complaining about not signing a CM (even though we all know we need one) rather than being happy we'd signed another wide player.NabySarr said:If we do slap down good fees on a winger and midfielder now, can we just agree to delete the last 50 pages of this thread and pretend they didn’t happen1 -

Ok who finished 10th?, would have gone top seven or higher otherwise.😜21cws said:
Can’t say a name but I think the name I know is our second choice if the first don’t happen. Played a fair amount of time for top 10 team from last year.CB1 said:4 -
We are only allowed 25 over 21s in our squad. You have 26 I think?DDOUBLEE said:So, if the plan is 4-2-3-1:
GK: Kaminski, Mannion, Brooks
RB: Ramsay, MacNamara
RCB: Jones, Collins, Gough
LCB: Koumetio, Bell, Burke
LB: Mesik, Edwards
CM: Docherty, Coventry, JRC, Mwamba, **NEW**
CAM: Knibbs, Carey, Fullah
LW: Grant, Alli, Campbell
RW: **NEW**, Apter
ST: Godden, Kelman, Leaburn, Mbick
I fully expect Asiimwe, Kanu and Tanto to be gone by the end of the window.
I will feel much more positive if the two signings are Kamara and Holsgrove. Wonder where that'll leave Chalobah though, would like it if we signed him too really.
Gough, Fullah, Mbick and Mwamba are the only ones under 21.0 -
I’m more confused with the Alli signing, if we’re still looking at another winger it means Ali will be what 4th choice at the best behind This new RW Grant and TC.MartinCAFC said:

Massive gamble to rely on someone coming back from a serious knee injury who hasn’t ever played at this level. I’d be very worried if our strikers are Godden, Leaburn, Kelman and Micah. 3 have poor injury records in the last year and Kelman who is now injured himself, needs a good season to justify why we paid millions for himDDOUBLEE said:NJ mentioning Micah in his injury update suggests that he's going to be involved with the first team this season. Could be why a deal for Dykes isn't being pursuedBased on what Jones said tonight, If I’m wrong about Dykes returning fair enough, I just share what I’m told which is usually very accurate from well placed sources23 -
Agreed, especially as he wasn't mentioned as being an option on the RW. It's very oddCrispywood said:

Feel the Dykes one has legs - haven’t seen the interview yet though in fairness.stjohnshill said:

Think he's looking at TC/Karlan/Alli off the left and then Apter and New Signing off the right.fenaddick said:

Sadly I think it could mean TC is not signing a new deal and Alli is our replacementCrispywood said:

. Hoping it means TC goes at the end of the season not the start of it, but we'll see. 0 -
Think you have more than enough credit in the bank to apologise at all this window and if ur gonna be wrong then I’ve got no problem with it being about dykes re-signingstjohnshill said:

Anyway, I know he played out there tonight but maybe Alli is for the left wing with TC because Grant is going to play through the middle again? He wore the 9 shirt tonight which is quite telling2

Patrick Roberts maybe?21cws said:

It's not a bad shout given the injury prone nature of our front line highlighted above. Then Grant is an extra CF option and we still don't need to run TC or Alli into the groundsam3110 said:Anyway, I know he played out there tonight but maybe Alli is for the left wing with TC because Grant is going to play through the middle again? Really hope that we do bring in another 3, a right winger, and two central midfielders. 4 now would be a real stretch and it doesn’t sound like they’re looking at that at all.
Would be great if we can bring in some real quality in those positions and I thought Chalobah done very well tonight. It sounds as though it’s more can they see enough that convinces them about his fitness rather than anything else. Two plus Chalobah would be good.
On a side note, I personally would have told Dykes to shove it by now. We offered him a deal and fine he went to the World Cup, he came back and trained with Bristol City who decided against taking him on. Let’s make sure we are in the position of power. If you didn’t want to sign the contract offered at first and wanted more money, don’t bother now. Don’t rate him anyway so would be pleased if we don’t sign him.
The signing of Grant means he can cover out wide and up front, and being the new number 9 suggests that might be the case.
Still expect there to be one or two more departures on top of what we can expect with Kanu and Tanto, even if they’re on loan. With Jones, Sichenje, Burke, Bell and Koumetio, I’d look at whether we loan out Gough. He needs men’s football now. With the new additions in midfield still to come, there has to be change there too, do we sell someone or loan out?13 -
Looking at Top 10 from last season wingers there's not a huge amount of really obvious names where someone's upgraded this summer.
Unless it's someone like Ben Brereton Diaz who was on loan at Derby from Saints and can play wide and through the middle.1 -
Something has to give in terms of our strikers, as we aren't going to have 5 wingers in the squad, to go back to 352, and with Knibbs and Carey in the No 10 role, there aren't going to be many opportunities for a striker to play the 10 role either.
Kelman being out for a while, certainly until after the window closes, complicates things, but then we have Mbick nearly ready to play. I think NJ has some big calls to make, and not just with Tanto and Kanu.0 -
I don't think Gough gets his loan because we need the numbers to cover the potential of Burke, Bell and Sichenje all being injured. He doesn't take up a squad place so he's convenient to keep around5

Longman from Wrexham would be my guess. Hasn't pulled up any trees for them so I doubt he'd command a crazy fee. From Surrey so may want to return back south. Maybe clutching with this one but after the Coady deal maybe we've got a good relationship with Hollywood FC.0

Maybe it’s a top 10 team in the Prem! 😂😂

Wes Burns? Played about a third of Ipswich's games, will be surplus to requirements I expect now2

Patrick Roberts got replaced in January by Birmingham. By the end of the the season wasn’t getting on the pitch much. Maybe would be unlikely as they only signed him last summer, but I hope it is him because that would be a great signingMarcusH26 said:Looking at Top 10 from last season wingers there's not a huge amount of really obvious names where someone's upgraded this summer.

Norwich have signed Andre Brooks so that might free up someone. Hopefully not Jurasek because he’s crap, maybe Forson Amankwah could be the one? Probably the most realistic of the options looking at top 10 wide right players1 -
Slightly off topic but have seen that Ben Watson’s son, Reggie, is starting to get minutes in pre season for Chelsea at just 16.
An absolute unit for his age and looks the part too. Very tidy on the ball and from set pieces.
Not sure we’d have a chance, but can see him doing a very good job for a Champ side in the near future.2 -
I really like Gough, looked tidy tonight. Think he could be a really good player in the next couple of years.fenaddick said:I don't think Gough gets his loan because we need the numbers to cover the potential of Burke, Bell and Sichenje all being injured. Would help a lot with flexibility to switch to wing backs too. I believe he signed a new deal at Ipswich this summer though so think he’s staying there for this seasonsam3110 said:Wes Burns? Played about a third of Ipswich's games, will be surplus to requirements I expect now0 -
Sammie Szmodics. Played at Ipswich and Derby0
