No way would be bring in another midfielder, if it's someone who's a real step up, without letting one of the current ones go. We have to be brutal to keep the squad size within 25.Southbank said:

I will feel much more positive if the two signings are Kamara and Holsgrove. Wonder where that'll leave Chalobah though, would like it if we signed him too really.
Gough, Fullah, Mbick and Mwamba are the only ones under 21.
I can see why the EFL did it, as it stops clubs hoarding senior players AND it frees up places for the likes of Mbick and Mwamba to get minutes.
Also I can't see us having both TC and Miles at the end of the window, as we don't need 3 left wingers, and NJ in the interview clearly didn't consider Alli as one of his right wing options.. Either Alli is a replacement for TC, or Grant will sometimes play through the middle, in which case Miles will get very few minutes.0 -
Technically we don't need to let someone go to keep in the squad limit, one of them could qualify as U212

Guessing you have 4, Godden obviously an experienced head good to have around the place. Kelman was our long term investment will stick with him. Glad I'm not the only one, that's a very weak strike force, I just don't get the clamour for Mbick, (at the moment) Brighton obviously saw something but would have placed him in the under 21s. Is he really championship standard ? From the little I've seen I don't think so. Has he recovered from a serious knee injury ? Goddens experience will get him into good positions & will get a few goals, Leaburn & Kelman meh. Think this new season will be much like the last, backs to the wall defending, grabbing occasional odd goal victories. Despite what Jones has said tonight about signing a dominant midfielder I can't see us pushing the boat out though I hope I'm wrong. Chalobah ? Another injury prone player.stjohnshill said:

We offered him a deal and fine he went to the World Cup, he came back and trained with Bristol City who decided against taking him on. Let’s make sure we are in the position of power. If you didn’t want to sign the contract offered at first and wanted more money, don’t bother now. Don’t rate him anyway so would be pleased if we don’t sign him.

I’d be really happy to sign Chalobah after watching him last night and at the end of last season, bit worrying with the injury record but think it’s worth the risk. Be interesting to see how many more we bring in . Can still see it being 4 if a few more go out.2

If we got Dykes, a CM of the calibre of Holsgrove (ie decent money for us), a winger of a similar calibre to Kamara, and Chalobah as a back up CM option - I would consider it a decent summer.24

Why is everyone obsessed with us having to pay a big transfer fee as a sign of intent. If we sign an experienced, in demand player who’s run their contract down and wants £30k a week, that’s nearly £6m over three years, plus any possible signing on fee.5 -
There no guarantee that you spend millions and the player automatically becomes a star player .. look how many players in the perm been signed for 10’s of millions been crap …. and let go 12 months later …..0

It is, but that would probably blow our wage structure a bit and potentially cause us a lot more issues when it comes to securing a new contact for the likes of L. Jones etc, so while I imagine our hypothetical new players are on a decent wedge I don't think they will be on 30k/week.SouthLincsAddick said:

There is a player in there but it was against Colchester and he's approaching 32 years of age. As much as I think he could do a job, and his experience would be what we need, he is not worth investing in, due to his injury record, exactly the same doubts sit with Reece Burke, good player but missing most of the season, we don't need another one in a key position.robroy said:Was Chalobah really on £20k a week at Wednesday? Nathan Jones comment about 'keeping our powder dry to this point' suggests that the club is prepared to get the players they want and are prepared to pay good money to achieve it.6

I don't think he will feature enough in the league and there's no benefit at all in him playing U21 football. Loan him out with a recall clause in January and see how he gets on.7
