    Interesting he sees himself as a number 9 who can also play out wide or as a 10.

    Doesn’t sound like what we’re probably looking for. I think a left footed right winger is more likely.

    OH good shout Callum! hadn't considered someone like Koumas who might be available on a perm given he turns 21 in September.

    I would say get him a loan.

    I don't think he will feature enough in the league and there's no benefit at all in him playing U21 football. Loan him out with a recall clause in January and see how he gets on.
    Yeah this was my thinking, I don't see where get he would get minutes and U21 football is a waste of time for him at this point of his development. Go and get a top end L1 loan and see how he does.

    Chalobah would be a poor signing in my opinion.  We don’t have the luxury of filling up our squad with perennially injured players and Aneke was the last straw for me.  We repeated the mistake with Burke who is one of the highest earners I as I understand it.  If that Sheff Wed wage is accurate then it’s insanity to pursue him.  

    As a club 5/6 years ago I could see why we tolerated it, but we need to have more respect for ourselves and just swerve them completely.  How often did we see Burke last season?  It will be the same this season, you can hold me to this.  He will get injured again at some point in the next few months and we will see him sporadically, if at all this season.  Chalobah fits the same mould.  Do not bother

    I'm not convinced the wage is accurate but even if it is, that doesn't mean we'd pay him £20k. Sheffield Wednesday certainly won't be paying him that in L1 and he might be willing to move closer to home on a smaller wage to play Championship football over L1 football. It feels to me like there's a good deal to be done in there if we're confident of keeping him fit

    If we had a strong track record if bringing in perennially crocked players, getting them fit and them keeping them from getting crocked again, i could understand us shopping in the 'made of glass' window.

    But we don't, we get fit players and get them injured, our return to fitness for any injury seems to be weeks or months longer than average and is frequently followed by another injury.

    It improved under the doctor who then left suddenly but has deteriorated again. I would also be very wary of buying an injury prone player with out record. No matter how fantastic they are when fit if its only one week in sox thats not what we need

    The counter argument on Chalobah, is that he has been playing at a side in desperate times who would have been tempted to overplay him or rush him back.

    If you go back through his career, he has been deployed as a finisher quite alot, and when doing so has had a strong record of keeping fit. If Chalobah is brought in to play that role, and be there as a finisher to help us manage the end of games, it could be a very shrewd bit of business.

    All of that depends on the money he is looking for of course.

    I can see both sides of the Chalobah debate, but I would say that if we do decide not to sign him then we do need someone who can do what he does - not just winning the ball in midfield but dictate play and start progressive moves forward.

    I wonder if the club are playing hardball with Kanu ie sign a new, longer, deal or leave now. If he signs then a loan to L1 is fine.

    Or maybe we just want/need the money a sale would generate to fund other deals plus we need to trim the squad size.

    I think that's one that probably goes on for a few more weeks yet until Orient take the best offer on the table.

    We are Charlton. Every club will also know that by deadline day we will have two strikers out from injuries/knocks they’ve already picked up and Kanu will be on the team sheet and scoring for fun.
