I thought we should have kicked on after about 30 overs. We left it too late. I think India are well set to win this.0

Last couple of overs from Curran have been great1

No wickets until I started calling him Brainless Curran.....fenaddick said:Last couple of overs from Curran have been great
Thanks, Fanny !2 -
If England had reached the World Cup final tonight, I imagine the English over rate would have been faster today

Great death bowling from Curran0

Justin Greaves had a spell in which he took 5-0 against Pakistan today. What's the chances of someone predicting one wicket maiden let alone five consecutive wicket maidens? Because it was five wickets in five overs.0

Fleming has plenty of T20/franchise experience, but has no coaching experience experience in the longer format to my knowledge, so seems a strange appointment to me.
I would rather have gone for Lehman or Langer.
But I wish him well0 -
Fleming appointed and Root named England Test captain0

Crucially Fleming not starting until the SA series, Trescothick doing the Pakistan seriesAddick Addict said:Fleming appointed and Root named England Test captain1 -
I think it's a mistake picking Root as captain. He's had his time & is 35.1

His record as captain is as bad as it gets.golfaddick said:I think it's a mistake picking Root as captain. He's had his time & is 35.3 -
Fleming is a very good coach. He won the County Championship with Notts and also holds the record for the most number of matches captaining NZ (80) and the most wins (28) too. There's not a lot he won't know about red ball / Test cricket and he will be far more of a pragmatist and tactician than McCullum.Gravesend_Addick said:Fleming has plenty of T20/franchise experience, but has no coaching experience experience in the longer format to my knowledge, so seems a strange appointment to me.

The biggest thing of all, though, is that I always get that feeling that McCullum wants to be "one of the boys" and that can be a dangerous trait especially when it comes to selecting and specifically dropping players. Fleming will keep "more of a distance" than McCullum did with the players.6 -
I think hes a stop gap. Theyve probably asked him to do a year see the team through a transition and then bow out (hopefully just from captaincy not from test cricket).golfaddick said:I think it's a mistake picking Root as captain. He's had his time & is 35.1 -
The worry is that his batting will be affected, especially as he wasn't even a good captain anyway. I want Root concentrating on hitting runs next summer in the Ashes, not on how to get Travis Head out.cantersaddick said:

I'd tend to agree on Root, but the problem is who else is there?
Brook is too thick to bat to suit a situation let alone captain to one.

I think that there are other issues with Brook than just the fact he needs to grow up at bit. One is being able to captain the side in all formats and the other will be his desire to rest at times - in addition to Australia and South Africa tours this winter there is one to Bangladesh and I suspect that he will be exempted from that one.North Lower Neil said:I'd tend to agree on Root, but the problem is who else is there?

I’m guessing Brook takes over the red ball job after the WC and someone like Bethell becomes white ball captain0
-
I don’t know why Brook couldn’t just have taken a break from t20s internationals for a year. I feel sorry for Root and I also think he’s a poor captainfenaddick said:I’m guessing Brook takes over the red ball job after the WC and someone like Bethell becomes white ball captain0 -
Broad and Buttler interviewing Stokes. Have only watched a few minutes so far, but might be of interest.0

Yes it wasn't a vintage England team, but he had Broad and Anderson in their prime, which is a massive boost.arny23394 said:
