Being asked by a bloke in the Oak one non-match evening if I could pop round and dig his out is up there. "It'll save on postage...'

I had to contact the ticket office and get them to re-send a link which actually worked as my link didn't work either. I renewed the day they came out if that helps with any wider issue. I had to explain to the ticket office 3 or 4 times though about the link not actually being a link but an image instead.

  • Apparently they'll allocate some of the lower and upper to home supporters. Should make for a more cosy away end and smaller away allocation.

Where is the update? One month gone by since 11,000.
That was posted 4 July. Now that Millwall have posted ‘nearly 13k’ and selling 500 more it’s going to make it look a bit lame when the club finally shares a ST sales number unless there’s been a big uptake as the season approaches

Only if you actually care what other people think. Also much easier to sell more for a smaller stadium and club that nearly got promoted to the prem.

For gawd sake, why do you keep asking the same inane questions?

Ask the club by email or ring the ticket office if you really want to know.

It’s not so much about what other people think, it’s about what we should be taking notice of. The fans of this club above all others (because we basically lost the ground and almost lost the  club and have pulled it back from the brink plenty of times since) should be watching the core/basic things and numbers. ST sales matter because that’s the starting point for attendances and from those the basic revenue streams. At 12k STs we know the club has on average 7k unsold seats at home matches and even for the bigger matches the ground doesn’t sell out. Whether you’re at the match or watching it on the tv, on clips, you will be looking at lots of empty seats. That tells everyone that there’s no reason to rush to buy a match ticket. That’s a slippery slope. We basically need to change those dynamics and create an urgency, a reason to want to get their match ticket as quick as they can, to want to be a (regular) part of it. Attendance stats show that most of the Championship  are cracking that code. If we want to compete then we need to catch up. If ST sales are static or slipping then warning signs should be going off all over. The club keeping quiet on them is not a helpful sign.

I am no capitalist or business person but it seems to me that bums on seats at the Valley is the obvious way to get growth in the business.
I suspect that means going the hard miles.
For instance (and it has maybe been tried) the biggest Kenyan diaspora community is in Peckham. Wouldn’t that be fertile ground to start to entice people in, small at first but who knows?
Fancy lounge type stuff is all well and good, but the basic fan wants ease of travel and affordability.

I suspect Millwall will have plenty of empty seats, particularly at evening games.

The pattern of ST sales isn’t difficult to predict. It will be very quiet in June and early July, but should pick up a bit from mid July to the opening game.

I’m not a big believer in “signings sell tickets” unless they are exceptional, but I think the transfers will have been enough to consolidate some interest.

Where has this thing about taking food into the ground come from? How can they enforce this for people who are say diabetics and need to eat at certain times?

Not so sure about Millwall’s midweek games having plenty of empty seats unless they are having a shit season and we make it ten times worse by actually beating them. The segregation and switching to all safe standing in their North stand will have reduced capacity. (Guessing) if it’s now around 18k, then 13.5k of STs and 2k away fans will mean only around 2.5k tickets will be available for match by match sales. At those levels they must have tipped the balance of having more demand than availability and the  club would probably have scope to buy back ST seats not being used for games where there is demand.

Correct about evening games. But we had 14 weekend (or bank holiday) sell outs last season and I was at all of them and nearly all of them did feel like actual full houses or close to. Of course you’ll always see pockets of empty seats when watching on TV but if you go under the stands during a game at The Den there’s probably a good few hundred fans at least having a beer and watching the match on the screens on the concourse, so that will account for a lot of those empty spaces.

And then there will always be season ticket holders who didn’t bother to come. This is particularly noticeable for the early kick offs as a lot of the youngsters play Saturday morning football. But the club have introduced a scheme where if you’re not attending you can sell them back your ticket which they sell on and the cost of the match is reimbursed on your season ticket the following season. I think a lot of these will get snapped up as i was always getting asked for spares for most games that we sold out last season and there’s always people asking around on the SM forums for spare tickets.

The club being put up for sale, if that really is the case, isn't necessarily another helpful sign either I guess
