I took some flak on the World Cup section of this forum, when I intimated that giving the World Cup to Trump’s America was the start of a greasy pole to the destruction of international football as we know it. It has meant that the America has woken up to the idea that “ Soccer” will eventually eclipse even Baseball and American football as the most lucrative sport in the USA. There are plans to have an enormous World Cup event every two years, which naturally will have it’s base in the good old USA, along with 45 minute long half times etc, etc. The effect of this will change the league systems and competitions in other countries.Thank God, I’ve already reached my 3 score years and 10!7

I don't think anyone doubted for a second that Africa would back this and to be honest who can blame them when they're all being promised an extra $30m. This is a pivotal moment in football’s future. We all know FIFA is corrupt. No serious football person has any confidence or trust in them and any football association that does is just as bad. If this is handled right by UEFA in particular then it could be the beginning of the end of footballs world body and good riddance. Regardless of any world vote on FIFA’s plans UEFA should just fail to engage with it and break away. Threaten to form its own “World Cup” and I’m confident that sponsorship wouldn’t be an issue and enough countries outside of UEFA would also look to participate. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for football to rid itself of an acceleratingly corrupt body.13

The recent WC - how apt - with Infantino's vainglorious, egotistical posturing and abject hubris, proved he was forever the turd in FIFA's punchbowl.
His kow-towing to Trump's demands that a Yank's ban was overturned by a simple phone-call was as sickening as it was nefarious, being just one of the machinations that polluted the tournament.
During the half-time circus at the final, I sent the following to my brother in a text:
I despise with every fibre, cell and atom of my being, this fuckfest of American vulgarity and idiocy.
I feel much the same about the latest proposed project of Infantino' and his grubby cohorts at FIFA.
It is nothing more than unbridled greed and meglomania, a vulgar and shameless act that demeans the once 'beautiful game'.
The filthy lucre being promised to footballing nations will prove to be too tempting for some/many, and UEFA would appear to be the only hope of preventing a putrid orgy of malpractice and sheer, unadulterated greed.
I fear the worst...

UEFA’s compliance will be bought out eventually. Maybe they’ll get $60m per country instead of $40m.
Despite whatever UEFA are saying about what is ‘right and wrong’ for the game - their primary concern is that FIFA are about to accelerate light years away from them.It’s nothing to do with what is “good for the game” for any of these associations involved. It’s about how much they can get their hands on.3 -

If we have a tournament every 2 years which can only be played in a handful of countries due to the amount of nations taking part. USA, Arabia and i guess if they want to china and India. Ridiculous high prices for tickets and travel. Carbon footprint even larger. meanwhile the same fuckers get even more money.

UEFA hasn't got a block vote and some UEFA member associations will also vote for it - I believe Czechia have already said they would support it.The only way it can be stopped in my opinion is if the senior FA's in Europe threaten to withdraw from the World Cup (and carry through with the threat). As a minimum that's the previous European winners - England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain plus the Dutch, Belgians, and a few others (note that I didn't include Scotland!!).

I don't think it would happen but perhaps football fans across the world could threaten to stop buying products from FIFA World Cup sponsors, would that slow things down a bit! For other reasons I have stopped watching anything American or buying any products obviously American till the orange one is gone!6
