Doesn’t have to be those two it just has to be an upgrade on Apter and an upgrade on Cov/Doc/JRC realistically should be very easyRedRobin said:Don’t think we will get both Kamara and Holsgrove, this is Charlton things are never simple! Time will tell,1 -
I remember week in week out he blamed Dobson for Fraser’s poor performances. Said he was overrated.John_Fitzpatrick1 said:
He’d be upset if we got promoted I’m sure. Proper whopper.Covered_End_Lad said:The bloke on the other forum already claiming Kamara and Holsgrove are overrated before we’ve ever signed either of them.
Doesn’t it get boring being constantly negative no matter what the club does? Convinced he doesn’t actually support Charlton.Thankfully his football knowledge of mordern day players and in general is horrendous.I still remember his outrage when we signed Godden..Now I see he’s recommending we sign Dobson…8 -
I'd keep them as squad players.DDOUBLEE said:NabySarr said:
Actual debates and considerations on offering Michael Hector and Terrell Thomas new contracts. The absolute worst.
As a fanbase we voted Terrel Thomas 3rd in a player of the year vote. None of us can talk reallyRC_CAFC said:
The two signings I was most excited about in League One were Scott Fraser and Pan Camara... I trust Jones and Chappell to know more than me.DDOUBLEE said:
A few years ago, he was banging on about how we MUST SIGN Alex Davey, a centre-back on the books of Chelsea, as he was so talented and was better than anything we had. Thought I'd check on Mr Davey right now. Retired at 31 years of age. Never played higher than League One level. So I don't take much stock in his views on players really.Covered_End_Lad said:The bloke on the other forum already claiming Kamara and Holsgrove are overrated before we’ve ever signed either of them.

With his recent injury record, we're more likely to sign Omega or someone in their 50's like Jericho.sam3110 said:

Maybe we should sign Orange Cassidy. That's what TC seems to look like to a lot of posters on hereAddick_and_Chips said:

I appreciate it’s all relative. But oh to be in a position where we could turn our noses up at Sorba Thomas.
Also, if they are after Thomas it’s not out of the realms of possibility that they are after LJ like the rumour earlier this summer?11 -

Charlton joins the race for Holsgrove: Estoril has already refused a bid of 2 million euros
Championship Club may move forward with a new offer soon
Charlton, from the Championship, joined the race to hire Jordan Holsgrove, a 26-year-old Scottish midfielder from Estoril. According to what Record found out, the British club has already presented an offer of 2 million euros for the 10 jersey of the canaries, which, however, was rejected.
However, Nathan Jones' team has not yet given up on hiring the midfielder and may soon present a new proposal for the player who added 1 goal and 7 assists in 35 games in 2025/26. International under-21 for Scotland, the footballer has two more years of contract with the estori players.
In addition to Charlton, Werder Bremen, Augsburg and Hamburg, from the Bundesliga, and César Peixoto's Wolverhampton, are also interested in the player trained at Reading. Estoril wants €3.5M for the Scotsman, who in turn intends to leave the Linha team in this summer transfer market and give a new direction to his career. Germany and England are the championships that please the footballer.
Estoril's 10th jersey, remember, has also represented Atlético Baleares and Celta de Vigo, in Spain, Olympiacos, in Greece, and also Paços de Ferreira. He has been in Amoreira since the summer of 2024, when he left the Greek team at no cost, after a year on loan to the canary.

Encouraging that were seemingly in the market for Holsgrove. If the competition is as described above I would imagine we’d have little chance but I’d also guess at least some of those clubs will drop out for a variety of reasons. Estoril want €3.5 million so our bid is way short at present. I’d assume €3 million might be enough. Doesn’t look very likely that we’ll solve our midfield issues before or at least much before the Derby game. If we fail with Holsgrove who else should we look to at that sort of fee ?1

No way we have bid €2m.
Well known fact that we're skint and Jones is unhappy54 -
This does seem to be gathering a little traction and as others have alluded to Jones’s mood definitely seemed more confident on Tuesday evening in that interview so fingers crossed. I say that without having ever heard of him until this summer.Callumcafc said:https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/liga-betclic/estoril/detalhe/charlton-junta-se-a-corrida-por-holsgrove-estoril-ja-recusou-proposta-de-2-milhoes-de-euros?ref=Pesquisa_DestaquesJuly 29, 2026 - 21:41Charlton joins the race for Holsgrove: Estoril has already refused a bid of 2 million euros

I do feel we need three more.CDM

RWB/RWIf as an example we get Holsgrove and he picks up a knock, we won’t have decent cover. Last season it was the left hand side that killed us. I think we really do need to cover that CM birth properly or that will kill us this season (arguably did last season).3 -
To be fair, that does look like a low-ball bidHenry Irving said:No way we have bid €2m.

€2m feels really low for a player with Holsgroves stats. Think Henners is right and €3m would get it done.2
-
Does say we're going to present a new offer soon so hopefully by now we're closer to what they're after. Also assume we wouldn't be offering for him if the player wasn't keen as previously discussed? Maybe we have sorted it with him since then.MarcusH26 said:€2m feels really low for a player with Holsgroves stats. Think Henners is right and €3m would get it done.4 -
Already at maximum squad size as well so will be interesting who makes way for the 2 new signings, Tanto is a given but the other could be quite a few players.Would have liked 2 midfielders but shifting one of ours if no one is interested could be an issue0
-
Seems cheap even at 3mio EUR... This is someone with some of the best stats in the Portuguese Prem, not a tinpot Serbian league4
-
You would think if we are going back with an improved offer we have now had positive sounds from the player himself.7
-
Can someone tell me about Jordan Holsgrove as I see he's not played a minute of English League football. Does everyone watch Spanish football then..... ?8
-
With that list of clubs and possibly others sniffing I doubt this’ll be a quick deal situation. Estoril, agent and player will be looking to encourage a bidding war on fee and terms. Until hopefully Charlton are the only ride in town I doubt we’ll see movement. Could also be that it all gets too rich for us also.1
-
Surely Holsgrove will be holding out for a Bundesliga move. We could have already bid more than other teams but if he doesn’t want to come to us it won’t mean much.MarcusH26 said:€2m feels really low for a player with Holsgroves stats. Think Henners is right and €3m would get it done.1 -
Maybe but the fastest route to The Premier League is from the ChampionshipSouthLincsAddick said:
