We won’t get an AM with Carey, Knibbs and Fullah. I think we’re stronger there than the general feeling seems to be - if Knibbs is fitter than last season he can rotate with Carey more, and Fullah has plenty of room to improve at his age. With wingers on either side the aim is to be better going forward, have more of the ball, and their pace should create space for the midfield. RWB/RWIf as an example we get Holsgrove and he picks up a knock, we won’t have decent cover. Last season it was the left hand side that killed us. I think we really do need to cover that CM birth properly or that will kill us this season (arguably did last season).

Tapping up isn’t really a thing anymore, managers will often sound out a player before putting a bid in with a club. There’s little point wasting time negotiating a fee with a club just for the player to turn around and say no. To be fair he may be great, he may be alright, he may be terrible. But for me its actually quite a good sign that we've identified a prime target, stuck at it and seem to be with a decent shout of signing him - when you look back at last year when by all accounts Galbraith was a key target we were very keen on... and was never remotely interested.king addick said:Holsgrove better be good if he comes in, he is putting way up on that pedestal!

None of the U21’s count as part of the squad size lets say for sake Kamara and Holsgrove do come in it means we have to let go of Tanto and one other senior player most likely one of the midfielders or wingersOh Eddie Youds... said:

I'm with you on that Swisdom. Is it certain Holsgrove is that dominant midfielder- given how much better the club have got at not leaking who we’re in for, there may be a chance it’s someone none of us know of/expect6

I can’t see Docherty going anywhere this summer. Think that would be a bad move, would rather move on Costello or Coventry if we need to clear room in midfield for incomings. We definitely have no clue how good Holsgrove is but based on interest from the top flight of Germany, his stats from last season, him playing in a good quality league the fact he will cost a pretty penny and the fact you probably have to be the quality of Alex Gilbey to get into our current midfield I think it’s a pretty safe betBailey said:

I had never heard of Jordon Holsgrove but I do remember his Dad Paul Holsgrove who was a Journeyman footballer who in a 14 year career racked up just over 200 apps in mainly the EFL and Scotland. Reading was the club Paul played the most games for with 70 apps.
Jordon at 26 haven't played many games looking at his apps though does at last have various clubs interested in him after obviously having a good couple of seasons for Estoril with 76 games after a slow start to his career after his academy career at Reading.
Not sure he would fancy Charlton after his stay in Portugal and even if he signed he would need to be convinced we are going to play through the midfield and not just lump it. If it's true he not keen to come to CAFC then our reputation have gone before us despite Nathan wanting us to suddenly have 'wingers' on both flanks and midfielders who can pass the ball to the widemen.
Big Phil Chapple is racking up the Air miles with Sichenje, Mesik, Koumetio etc joining since his return and an Oyster card to see McNamara plus the mandatory signing from Luton with the two footed winger, gymnast and pod caster, tick tocker Alli.
A midfielder who can pass like Gilbert but with more physicality is desperately needed; does Holsgrove fit this profile 🤔

I would add Kanu to that small list. NJ was super smart in the wording I have read he used around Doc. Think latter will move on to be replaced by better on top of CM and RW already mentioned. No problems with Doc and his incredible workrate but impact is a bit limited 80% of the time.2
