We’re so under cooked for the start of the season. Really worrying. Midfield needs so much work.

People do get far too wound up about preseason games. There’s always very little correlation between how teams play in preseason and how they perform in the actual season
What did you see that looked like the players and team played well ,and are ready for a cup match in 7 days and a league game in 14 days.

No, no mate you mustn’t criticise him neither Lev Yashin or Dino Zoff would have saved that 😏
Give it a rest you plum, the third goal was a fluke that Kaminski should have been better positioned for, but that doesn't change the fact no-one gets to the free kick

Hard to tell how far we are from being any good, so many changes and mixtures of players. Two weeks to get the 1st 11 properly sorted and playing together. If we start with Doc and Coventry it will be a worry.

We defo need a decent GK , Kaminski didn't looked bothered. Can't see us beating last seasons 14 clean sheets.

Referee decided it would be kinder to put us out of our misery
  • I've never put too much, if any, store in pre-season friendlies. Which is fortunate.

Birmingham drew with Barcelona yesterday and won on Pens

Are Barcelona now in imminent danger of the drop?

We were shit, yes, but we continually made changes to get minutes in legs. Do you think the system is going to be fluid when we just kept changing the look all game?

Minutes in legs. That’s all that matters. Get a grip
No idea how to play forward, press being played through. Conceding from long shots again. Call it minutes in the legs if you want but that’s an embarrassing performance and scoreline

3-0 we’ve certainly had our pants down for the opposition for this one!

Pre season has been so weird, some players in, some out but nothing seems to have been built/developed?
Has got to be a big concern , really can't see any progress.
    This.

It's as if we've just picked up where we left off back in May. Only Grant seems an improvement on last season. Admittedly I've not seen enough of Alli but nothing else seems an upgrade

To me the season starts next week. We should be putting out our strongest 11 next Sat. Treat the game like a League match.

Only bonus today was that the stream was free.

Didn’t watch it I’m on holiday. The game has absolutely zero bearing on the season.

Whenever we romp preseason we have a poor one, so on this form we will finish 17th

A lot to be done before the League season starts in 2 weeks time. My concerns about this season have not been eased after this afternoon.

Worrying Ramsay looks poor in what’s meant to be his natural position.

Mesík and Koumetio look an upgrade on Chambers and Bell to me

All a bit disjointed. Would love to know who NJ thinks are his first eleven. Some nice touches today from all the newbies with Grant the best on display but midfield still appears a void. There is a lot of hard work, and at least three new faces, required to make this a Championship squad.

I’d suggest you look at that Barca team first
  • I don’t read too much into pre season friendly matches which is just as well after watching that.

Feel like that raised a few concerning questions.

I know it's only a friendly but it felt, a lot like last year, we were slow to second balls and getting to shots from the edge of the area.

Gave Kaminski the benefit of the doubt with the first goal as it was a great freekick, but the third was another cross/shot and we saw him beaten by those last year. I do wonder what Henderson is working with him on in training as he's only a few years removed from appearing in the PL and with Belgium. Feels like a massive regression.

Midfield I can't help but think the split should have been Doc & Mwamba/Cov & Chalobah.

Ramsay and Bell looked really off it, but hopefully they were saving themselves for the season ahead and just getting minutes in.

Alli made some runs forward but not sure on him yet.

Hopefully Carey and Apter aren't out long as Oloafe and JRC didn't offer anything replacing Campbell and Knibbs.

Thought Leaburn offered a lot more than Godden today.

A poor watch. Anyone without prior knowledge would assume that we were the League 1 team and Reading were the Championship side.

Season effectively starts in a week, with only Jones, Koumetio, Mesik, Mawamba, Knibbs and Grant looking convincing with TC and Leaburn blowing hot and cold. Not exactly amazing state to be in.

Yeah yeah, minutes in legs, bed wetter and all that other toxic positivity nonsense.

Bell doesn't look like a full back. Lisbie (L2 last year) has him on toast.

If you want to put minutes in their legs, than take them up to the lake district for a month and have them fell running , that will do it. Not sure it would improve their football skills and reaction times though.
