Carter and Rodwell need to speak up now. This is pretty devastating news and the timing is awful.
If these 2 are credible, honest and caring faces of the club then we need to hear from them.10 -

Don't worry, I'm sure the official comms will be banging on about Club 1905 and a new fan twitter account tomorrow instead9

This story broke this evening. Of course they're not going to respond immediately, this isn't social media where people respond to tweets and Instagram posts within 5 minutes.
I'm sure Carter will respond in the next day or two.

The slightly weird timing of it and story which doesn't really say anything makes me wonder whether it's an intentional leak for reasons we'll find out in 2 years time?killerandflash said:This story broke this evening. They were asked for comment and declined, they will have been given a reasonable amount of time to do so. This won't be out of the bluekillerandflash said:This story broke this evening. Newspapers give companies/people a right to reply before “printing” the story. It says Charlton declined to comment. As in, they were asked to comment and said “no comment”.killerandflash said:This story broke this evening. If we take a breath, it doesn’t talk about us being in financial trouble or if they don't sell by x then we’d get to that stage.
All we know is the current owners want to sell. That’s literally it.
Could be good. Could be bad. Could be the same. All three are on the table until we know different.

Well this explains Warwick’s exit along with the lack of CEO!! Why have they bought in the ex-Arsenal guy to support on transfers, unless he’s supporting with the sale of the club? All smoke and mirrors and was never a long term plan for the owners.2

Wouldn't blame any of the players or staff if they said, "Thank you but No thank you"
We are a laughing stock again! Could be relegated by Xmas.7 -
They’re not cowboys so don’t think it will get to that.fenaddick said:

Maybe this is what Jones meant when he referred to the disruption to pre season in his post match interview on Saturday. Might also explain the "shell shocked" performance by the players !2

The only “event” here is the leaking of a document. There hasn’t been a new decision to sell.

I’m fairly sure the whispers behind the scenes knew this was coming. This group have been touting for additional investment for quite some time.Diebythesword said:Oh godddd. Peter varney, get your black book out. Is it just a coincidence he mentioned he’d make sure to find a good owner if we ever get in the shit again in his “diaries” just the other month? Those that want to get involved as middleman when clubs come on the market I wouldn’t be surprised have been fishing around for some time now6 -

I think tomorrow’s media is one of the youth team players pebbledashing the new toilets at The Valley to launch the new away kit.DDOUBLEE said:Don't worry, I'm sure the official comms will be banging on about Club 1905 and a new fan twitter account tomorrow insteadTogether with some japes and behind the scenes footage…0 -

I've been supporting Charlton for over 60 years and so have plenty of my mates.DDOUBLEE said:No comment from "Charlton supporter" Gavin Carter I see. An absolute shitshow.
None of us have ever seen or heard of so called life long supporter Carter.
Has anyone on here actually met him down the years.None of us can remember him.
We will all have to fight again for our club.
We need The Valley back in our own hands once again.3 -
How about getting behind the team and manager. It's not the first time it's happened.usetobunkin said:Wouldn't blame any of the players or staff if they said, "Thank you but No thank you"

This is a joke right? Just seen the thread and not read anything. FFS.0

Think the sensible thing is not to provide a comment to the Guardian now, and have it trimmed down in the article, better to, and I hope it’s done tomorrow, to put out a longer form statement on the OS tomorrow. This isn’t that cesspits of X and you need instant response, likewise this might be similar to the Athletic story in January, so hopefully it can put people at ease tomorrow and the PTSD is under control6

Carter looks so foolish now and has probably been played by the yanks all along.
Timing of this on the back of the World Cup in the good old U S of A is worrying in that it may entice a few more fools with more money than sense to get their guitars and cheque books out, when what we actually need are owners with serious intentions.
Whilst we remain parted from ground and training ground we appeal to a narrower band of buyers with long term ambitions.
