How much would they have generated from season ticket sales just to bugger off now.

This story broke this evening.  Of course they're not going to respond immediately,  this isn't social media where people respond to tweets and Instagram posts within 5 minutes.

I'm sure Carter will respond in the next day or two.
I’m sure they would have been asked for comment, so they knew it was coming.

Wait, you mean we have to be interested in buying the club to join your chat?

Can those ‘ITK’ just, in simple terms, outline for the rest of us what is happening.

Am I understanding the comments from said people correctly that we have been for sale for some time and it had only just come to light due to a leaked document?

The only “event” here is the leaking of a document. There hasn’t been a new decision to sell.

Did you leak it ? If not who ?

    Pre-season has certainly been 'disjointed'.

While this is concerning news & awful timing during a big transfer window I would like to think we are in a stronger & more attractive position as a club for them to sell to people who aren’t fraudsters like we’ve had before

I think the problem is that the owners are not prepared to be putting in £15m+ a year to keep it running, they were sold the idea that the club could break even in the championship and that just isn’t the case.
It is concerning they believed it though. What unrealistic expectation about some form of sale have they been given?

The outpouring of "we're doomed" "we're going down" "we're fucked" "we're skint" "Jones is gonna walk" "no wonder players want to leave/won't sign new contracts" in the past hour has just confirmed to me that there's a lot of Charlton fans on here that revel in misery and chaos, and can't wait to see the worst in everything
So you think everything is going well then

I don't necessarily think this is new news. When the £20m investment was first sought, there was an article which said we have asked MSD bank to find investors. They weren't the only ones. We had asked a fuckload of people in the banking/sports finance industry to get investment. As you do in something that is heavily commision-based. I know the director of one company that was asked, and he told me that as well as seeking £20m for 20%, the owners would also entertain offers for the whole shebang. Albeit he said there was no way we were worth £80m. My thoughts are that someone in this Oakwell group are merely passing on that same info.
Asking for £80m would be mental

You clearly revel in misery and chaos. You must be Sauron or something.

So you’re saying there’s a chance that Charley Pinkpotatoes (trousers) comes back and signs us up to a partnership with a club in another exotic holiday location. I cannot wait…

What are you even on about? God forbid some of us haven't quite gotten over what's happened to the club in the last 20 years. Ridiculous.
No, what's ridiculous is reading an article about us being "up for sale" and automatically deciding all the above comments. Ultimately, until they sell up, or we get confirmation either way that they're continuing to invest in the meantime, or that they're pulling the plug, it doesn't actually change much.

But you can beat that drum of despair all you want, I won't be joining in the misery march straight away!

I know it’s easy to say in theory…but if you’re a billionaire then a few extra million is like you or I spending another £20 on something.  It’s fly dirt.

So it’s worth more than when they bought it - fair enough.  But one extra step up and it’s worth £10x more.

just seems strange to bail now.  It’s almost as though they didn’t do the research on what it costs once you get to The Championship.

I was asked a year ago if i knew anybody who might be interested in buying into the club - not necessarily outright but that was also on the table as an option.

Apparently one of the owners looked at Scienza of Southampton and asked “why we don’t have someone like that”

when he was told he would need to cough up around £10m and £50k a week he went very quiet.  I figured then that this present arrangement would not last long.

It’s a massive distraction we could do without to be honest.

We need to find new owners with even deeper pockets!

Shame as after years of chaos we have been more settled but trying to sell doesn't mean we are facing the abyss like we were with esi or
Duchatelet. Any hope of getting their money means staying up, they will know this.

  • The owners will still have to pay the bills and invest in the squad because if we were to get relegated their asset will obviously be worth less than it is now so Championship status and all bill payments up to date has to be the priority.

    Where have I said that?

All I've said is the doom-mongering on here is insane, based on a single article with not a lot of substance to it

Only recently we were told we’d progressively increase our budget to make us a mid table champ side. What happened to that? Just told to keep us off the scent I guess.

As a life long supporter of this club I only want what is best for Charlton.
But ever since Roland separated the club from the Valley and a succession of shit owners I find it hard at times to remain positive.
    Hope that helps.

No comment from "Charlton supporter" Gavin Carter I see. An absolute shitshow.
I've been supporting Charlton for over 60 years and so have plenty of my mates.
None of us have ever seen or heard of so called life long supporter Carter.
Has anyone on here actually met him down the years.
Yes mate and funny enough didn't recognise him until he loudly introduced himself on the train back from Lincoln when he described himself as 'AN INVESTOR.'
