My missus has a mobility armchair due to having both a knee and hip replacements, she lifts it to help her stand and rightly so……….
On her return she stands alongside it pressing the button to lower it into the normal sitting position before turning around to sit down, lowering herself until gravity takes over and she collapses into the chair.
Continued FFS from myself as anyone that has bought one can tell you they ain’t cheap, also because most of them are functional but not particularly fashion statements I bought one that blends in with the rest of the furniture so paid best part of 2k………..
What grinds my gears even more is when after doing it she says “I always forget that” when I suggest sitting down before lowering it.
And if I remind her before she sits I get that glare that says “ I fecking know, I’m not fecking stupid “ 🤷‍♂️

I've just come on here to say pretty much the same thing.

The state of the pavements in London at the moment, I don't think I've ever seen them as dirty as they are now but I guess thats down to the severe lack of rain we've had so they don't get a natural wash.

The twice weekly walk between Victoria station and South Kensington via Belgravia and Brompton is the filthiest I can remember it in the last 5 years since I started working there.

Should you give up, or should you just keep chasing pavements?

Americans on podcasts, especially guests who are being asked questions, end the majority of their sentences with "...right?"

They don't allow an answer, therefore they are forcing whoever is listening to agree with them against their will.

Further, on The NY Times Daily, the host will listen, then repeat what they just heard in more succinct terms, and the guest will say: "That's exactly right", and even though they do this in pretty much every single episode, I don't think it's conscious, which makes it even more annoying.

When we were in the Netherlands the week before last I was really impressed at the complete lack of litter etc. I don’t know why but people in the UK seem to think it’s acceptable to drop litter, throw it out of car windows etc etc. And it’s not a new phenomenon. Really can’t see why people can’t dispose of it properly or just take it home and bin it there. Having travelled a lot we must be one of the worst, if not the worst, country in the world for littering. And that’s before we get on to the fly tipping wankers.

BBC adverts between programmes. Sometimes they take up as much time as the ad breaks on commercial tv.

The current 'what has the BBC done for me' advert is extremely annoying. Have seen it so many times now.

This not only annoys me but it has made me want to find out who decided this and have their brain scanned to see if there’s actually one there.
West Kingsdown library doesn’t order their books by subject, not even by fiction and non fiction. No, some twat had come up with the idea of ordering the entire collection alphabetically by author.
So if you want a book on gardening you have to know who wrote it. You might like to browse through the science fiction books - well that’ll take a while as you’ll have to hope Adam Aardvark wrote one and not  Zoe Zorba. FFS

Literary (?) NOTHING surprises me these days .

The world, nay, the UK has gone abso feckin lutely mad.

I honestly despair as day after day yet another piece of news assaults our ears & eyes with yet another brain dead, useless, nonsensical announcement.

If it wasn't for Charlton and family, I'm honestly unsure whether I'd want to live another minute in this toxic, self destructive place.

    What's that phrase I'm looking for ?

The lunatics have definitely taken over the asylum ( no offence meant) and there's no sign of them being overthrown in my lifetime.

I thought libraries used the ISBN as the standard for ordering the books on the shelves.

All books should be arranged in colour order, irrespective of the nature of the book. It would make libraries much more engaging and inclusive.

This is only acceptable if it is the world’s shittest library containing just 10 books.

When asked, the ‘librarian’ said it was a decision by management (surprise surprise) and that’s how it’s done in Kent.

I thought West Kingsdown residents were all bank robbers and gangsters anyway, not much need for a library.

Sounds like the world famous Foyles, which back in the day before they got bought out seemed to do everything it could to deter customers. They used to arrange books by publisher (!), if you actually decided to buy something it was a three step process, you'd get an invoice for the book, go to another desk and pay for it, then actually get your hands on it at another desk. I know some people would call all that eccentric, I'd call it a pain in the arse, I only went in there once, that was enough.

'Under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964, local councils must provide a "comprehensive and efficient" service tailored to local community needs'.

    They are failing.

BBC sport - we really are the most unfashionable club in this country. We were meant to have radio coverage on sports extra and BBC Gloucestershire. They even have our badge on the app. They have pulled the coverage. Then I listen to 5 live and that Natalie Pike is on there and apparently the only game on is the Southampton game atm..

Was that a decision by KCC Councillors? Not at all surprised if so.

That is the standard system. I once worked temporarily in a library and that was the system used.
