The club have reposted what Gavin said, and I think that's all we'll get.
They're treating it like a bit of a non-story, perhaps it is?8 -
Still not on the OS. Absolutely mad way for an institution to communicateBedsaddick said:

A couple of big signings will put a temporary stop to the speculation. Sadly I can’t see it happening.sam3110 said:The club have reposted what Gavin said, and I think that's all we'll get.

They wouldn’t come out and say yeah we’re desperate to get out. You would still want room to negotiate if you were selling.sam3110 said:The club have reposted what Gavin said, and I think that's all we'll get.
They're treating it like a bit of a non-story, perhaps it is?The fact this wasn’t ready to come out when that article was released which if they declined to comment means they were aware of is odd. They need to act now and show they are willing to back the club with some much needed reinforcements, otherwise it’s empty words3 -

If you're going to make any comment at all on a story like this then all should have access to it. If there's nothing to see, don't say anythingValley11 said:

This is the line from the club, but I bet the document the Guardian saw was offering a full sale otherwise they wouldn't have run with the story.guinnessaddick said:Gavin Carter X account
I understand press speculation can concern @CAFCofficial fans, so let me address the Guardian story directly. What I've said publicly several times before, is that this ownership group is seeking new investment to help us progress. This is similar to the route taken clubs like Ipswich, Wrexham and Bolton, and is not new news for Charlton.I've been inundated with messages since the story broke. Please, don't be concerned. We are a Championship and WSL club, in a better position than we've been for 20 years. The 5 year plan requires we reach Championship average revenues by 2027-28, and we're increasing spend on players to back that. This ownership group has been nothing but good for this club. We’re focussed on channelling all our energy into driving the club forward with our supporters and with that togetherness I'm confident we'll continue to achieve our ambitions for Charlton.Meet the Directors, our bi annual CharltonTV present is scheduled for Thursday week!

Yeah that's how I'd see it too. I don't think the guardian would have ran the story if the document wasn't looking for a full sale.SELR_addicks said:

A bit odd it’s come through carter’s xitter account rather than through official channels. Can’t be that they’re trying to hide it?0

Doesn't at any point say 'We don't want to sell the club' though.Wonder how long they're happy to put up with the losses if this 'further investment' doesn't come through from the second firm tasked with finding some.6

The club needs to show its intent now and sign Harry Clarke from Stoke for about £4.75m.32

Small criticism but I feel like the message should really have come from a club statement rather than a tweet from Gavin Carter. Would be more impactful and reach more people6

Exactly! We're unlikely to see this document to verify it, and it may be just some of the consortium want to bail, but it's not a story if nothing has changed since Dec.SELR_addicks said:

Bit of bad news being buried before a couple of good news signings or the guardian have twisted the sales deck content to full sale rather than investment - I’d like to say it must be one or the other but it could of course be bad news followed by the signing of Ben reeves and albie morgan to add the X factor to our midfield1

I think you put too much faith in the honesty and accuracy of the British press.SELR_addicks said:

Neither of us has seen the document so we'd both be guessing if we claimed to know what it says.3 -
This. They've intentionally not addressed the actual article headline which says we're up for sale.SELR_addicks said:Doesn't at any point say 'We don't want to sell the club' though.Wonder how long they're happy to put up with the losses if this 'further investment' doesn't come through from the second firm tasked with finding some.
To that end, we are clearly up for sale. The proof will be if they give Jones the funds to buy the players we need to stay up.2 -
Anyone know any wealthy Americans that could pretend to be interested in investing so we can get a copy of 'the deck'?4
-
Maybe I'm being unrealistic in my expectations, but that's not really the 'The Guardian is wrong, we are not up for sale' statement I was hoping for.5
