Doesn't at any point say 'We don't want to sell the club' though.

Wonder how long they're happy to put up with the losses if this 'further investment' doesn't come through from the second firm tasked with finding some.
This. They've intentionally not addressed the actual article headline which says we're up for sale.

To that end, we are clearly up for sale. The proof will be if they give Jones the funds to buy the players we need to stay up.
They don’t need to, so many conspiracies and people who think as there specific need isn’t met, it’s all a stitch up against them

right can we go back to moaning about loyalty points, valley gold and east stand bogs.
As I just posted in the rumours thread.....its a non-denial denial.

Not addressed the article as being wrong or inaccurate. Therefore there must be some truth in it, otherwise you would see the words..." the article that appeared in the Guardian is totally untrue. The owners are not looking to sell the club but simply looking for additional investment so that we can be more competitive in the years to come"

You have to read what's not there.

Because its probably not totally untrue, but nor is it completely accurate. If they can get some more investment in and expand the consortium, they will do that. If someone somehow comes in with a big enough offer to buy them out wholesale, then they will do that.

There's a difference between "open to selling the club" and "actively trying to sell the club", from the statement it seems closer to the former.

I understand press speculation can concern @CAFCofficial fans, so let me address the Guardian story directly.

What I've said publicly several times before, is that this ownership group is seeking new investment to help us progress. This is similar to the route taken clubs like Ipswich, Wrexham and Bolton, and is not new news for Charlton.

I've been inundated with messages since the story broke. Please, don't be concerned. We are a Championship and WSL club, in a better position than we've been for 20 years. The 5 year plan requires we reach Championship average revenues by 2027-28, and we're increasing spend on players to back that.

This ownership group has been nothing but good for this club. We’re focussed on channelling all our energy into driving the club forward with our supporters and with that togetherness I'm confident we'll continue to achieve our ambitions for Charlton.

Meet the Directors, our bi annual CharltonTV present is scheduled for Thursday week!
This is the line from the club, but I bet the document the Guardian saw was offering a full sale otherwise they wouldn't have run with the story.

I think you put too much faith in the honesty and accuracy of the British press.

Neither of us has seen the document so we'd both be guessing if we claimed to know what it says.

I would also add misplaced expectations that a commercial entity would be completely transparent about any commercial strategy. We (all football fans) believe we should be told about the ins and outs of a duck's arse when it comes to their football club.

Anyone know any wealthy Americans that could pretend to be interested in investing so we can get a copy of 'the deck'?

To be honest, I’d happily take new owners if they are going to up the level of investment - it’s just the bad timing that’s the concern to me - doesn’t encourage the big new signings we’ve been keeping our powder dry for - if the current owners could sell up in the next 24 hours I’d see that as a massive positive

Of course we are up for sale if the right offer comes in but the key part and what I think the aim of the statement is that they are committed still to providing funding to continue on the plan until such time investment or a sale is agreed.

I Dont really understand why these “decks” if that’s the correct word for this glossy brochure is so secret. It’s basically an advertisement. The more people that see it the better. I get it’s only a select few that it’s aimed at but why shroud it in mystery. Is it really impossible to get a look at it unless your a multi millionaire or investment group ?

Careful,  we dont want any riff raff or Tom, Dick, Harry or Matt turning up.

I'd stick in The Sporting Life and The Lady magazine classifieds, if we can't get anyone from there, I'm stumped

When u become MD, CEO or above you enter a secret club - if anybody below that level gets a copy of a document not intended for anybody but the secret club, problems ensue - remember when airman got a copy of the one I think it was duchatalet issued - it lead to all sorts - one day these ‘documents’ will end up in the Charlton museum but not until a safe period of time has elapsed

Slater, not Duchatelet, when he was denying they were trying to sell the club, which of course they were and did.

So buy and flip was the plan all along.

Unless there is a buyer lined up, who knows how long it will be before a sale and any new investment, not to mention the impact of uncertainty upon the squad etc.

    FFS!

It was sold to Duchatelet about four months after we published the story.

No shit Sherlock! Of course it was - Buy, Add Value, Sell. It is only the timeline that determines how quickly one can add value, or not - stop profit/stop loss.

Exactly! We're unlikely to see this document to verify it, and it may be just some of the consortium want to bail, but it's not a story if nothing has changed since Dec.

Maybe nothing has changed since December, perhaps we were looking to sell back then too.
