Carter on whether they would sell the club: "The ownership group are really enjoying owning CAFC, but every asset has a price and I wouldn't rule it out"

If you've not subscribed to Rich's SubStack, I'd highly recommend it. He's gone above and beyond with this to offer fans reassurance on what's going on

If they are raising money they will be offering new shares in Global Football Partners to investors at a price for say 20%. The club would still be owned by GFP but with a new investor.
If those investors suddenly offer more than the GFP  values the shares at and  want to buy some more it is not unthinkable that the current shareholders of GFP would sell them some or all of their own holding. GFP will still own the club.  The club is not being sold by GFP but GFP are seeking more money to help us in the championship.
The comments about the poor state of the Valley annoy me. I do not know  what the terms of the lease are but given the sum being paid to ducktape I would guess he is not doing his job as landlord. Lack of maintenance reduces the value of DUcktapes investment so possibly it will inevitably be cheaper to buy at the end of the day. Only do what you have to keep the ground operating, if the owners invest in the ground it will be burning £50 notes
It’s a full repairing lease. The club is entirely responsible for maintaining the stadium.

I wouldn’t be surprised if NJ has told them that if they don’t open their wallets significantly then this season will be a disaster - they won’t be enjoying it when we’re stranded at the bottom come January

No timeline to sell, been looking for investment for 12 months now, realise now is a good time to put feelers out there for extra investment, as there is demonstrable progress on and off the pitch

GC “I think the Guardian story almost sensationalises this a little bit, this is us looking at investment options for the football club and we’ve been doing that for the past 12 months or so”

They have a number in mind that they believe the club as it stands is worth.

Very good interview from Cawley, asking clear and hard questions and getting what feels like transparent answers. For anyone on the fence, well worth the  fiver.

An important 4 weeks ahead, need to move players on.

Feels the need to move the wage band up.

When all is said and done, reckons spending level this season will be comparable to last season in overall spend

No, I'm more at the "this is not a new thing" stage.

Doesn't think having no CEO has hurt us, so they're not concerned that they haven't filled it yet, but they're still looking for one

So maybe some significant fees to come on the 2 we want? Sounds like the bigger trouble is shifting players out

I remember him saying we were very close to appointing a CEO in the last 'meet the directors'. Assume that fell through too?
  • It’ll be easier to sell the club than find investors I would have thought.

You’d be better off just burning your money than giving it to a football club you don’t own

Well he mentioned the Dane fiasco and said we've been burnt before. Apparently the list they have drawn up is of people within jobs right now so there's ongoing discussions but they'll have notice periods to work etc

“An investment is the act of putting money or resources into assets like stocks, bonds, or real estate with the goal of making a profit or growing your wealth over time”

good luck with that at Charlton but don’t hold your breath maybe we can pretend this is the approach

“Deliberately losing money in a business—often called operating at a strategic loss or blitzscaling—is a legitimate, common practice used to capture long-term market value, though it must be done carefully to avoid illegal pitfalls. When executed legally, it is a growth tactic”

I appreciate the sound bites, but isn’t that a tad bad on Cawley? He needs people to pay to listen not post what’s said on here.

    If it’s only £5 a month, that’s under a pint.

Not having a dig at anyone btw.
