    It's an OK signing, shame to see Coventry go but we need to be ruthless

    So he's the new Conor Coady, a defensive midfielder, whereas we are still missing a George Dobson or Scott Parker replacement. Is that fair?
    I don’t think there is any world where it is fair to talk about George Dobson and Scott Parker alongside each other

    He’s played 20+ Championship games for a team in a season four times in his career. Each time, his team has finished in the top six.

    Watford 2012-13 -> 3rd
    Watford 2020-21 -> 2nd
    Fulham 2021-22 -> 1st
    West Brom 2023-24 -> 5th

    On the other hand, hes thirty one and only managed 20+ games 4 times? That’s... not great.
    He’s had nine total seasons at Championship level (others at Premier League and Serie A) so 4/9.

    I'm not knocking the signing especially for a year it makes sense. But we definitely cant be relying on him regularly.

    Potentially the worst player to get an England cap this millennium - but that's still quite an impressive accolade for a Charlton player
    Zat Knight got two England caps. Actual Zat Knight.

    If he stays fit he could be a useful signing but that’s a big if . I hope he’s a success because that’s definitely a position that needed strengthening.

    Cheers @SWFChamish

    Hopefully can stay fit. We needed more in this area so important he proves better to what we have

    Time will tell but recent injury record doesn’t fill me with much hope. Can’t see why it’s taken us this long to bring him in if he was always on the radar so I’m assuming we missed out on other targets and he’s option 7.

    Do we know why he couldn’t be formally named when he played in the friendlies?

    Was it a club thing or some new rule?

    Or maybe it was a case of him prooving his fitness over a period of time, and then probably some negotiation over the contract.

    Good.

    Just need the sexy, stockings and suspenders creative midfield signing and the lingerie, handcuffs and blindfold winger.

    As everybody says Nathaniel is no problem with quality, it’s availability.
    Maybe we have to ‘manage the minutes’.
    Welcome Nathaniel and kudos to @Callumcafc for spotting the slip of the tongue yesterday.

    Hopefully he’s more of a Danny Haynes than Reece Burke type that we can get the best out of and keep him fit.

    Quality signing IF he can stay fit. Couple more and we've had a decent window. Plenty of time left as well.

    Assuming we’ve had a long hard look and have had the medical team looking him over. Calculated gamble on a very good Championship player. I doubt he’s the only centre mid we’ll sign though or at least I hope not.

    He fits the bill with Championship experience, let's see what he can do.

    I cannot complain with this signing as on the face of it we have a step up from last season's recruiting of 3rd division players.

    Coady with legs.

    Bags of experience & looked miles better than our existing DM's in the PSF. Just need to keep him fit & he'll be great addition.

    A sensible length contract for Chalobah taking into account his injury issues elsewhere.

    Aneke and Burke spring to mind. Great when available but never fit for long enough. Hopefully Chalobah bucks that trend

    Excellent signing. He won't have to play 90 minutes every game. Imagine he will swap minutes with Coventry so hopefully we can keep him reasonably fit.
    So we'll race out the gate at the start of games with him pulling the strings and going 1-0 up in 3 minutes, protecting that until he needs subbing to protect him, bringing on Coventry where we then concede 2?
