The fact that we're still signing Burke like players, great but rarely fit, means we're still struggling to compete in this league with recruitment, and that's solely down to budget. That's fine, it's where we are, just hope we find some of these magical extra investors soon or NJ will have to do most of the heavy lifting again this season.3

Coady, to be fair, has a very good injury record. We incorrectly thought he was over the hill before he joined us, whereas with Chalobah, it's his injury record which is the serious worry.golfaddick said:

I think another unmentioned plus about Chalobah, is that he could be a fantastic influence on Mwamba, who can learn a lot from Chalobah’s talent and experience.
Mwamba could be very special, and Chalobah can help him accelerate his development.12 -

Yes, Conor Coventry is a small child with a water pistol. Any minutes he spends on the pitch for us are minutes spent losing games because he is rubbish and badEugenesAxe said:

If there's any greater indicator of how progressively more deranged football fans get over the close season it's talking about a midfielder who was part of the squad that survived that season and going from 'we should sign an improvement on that player' to 'we are guaranteed to get relegated if he plays'. I was thinking about some of our best results last season; Blackburn, Coventry, Birmingham and Hull at home, Ipswich, Boro and Leicester away, Conor Coventry started all but two of those and played in all except the Hull game. He's a decent player who we need more competition for and there will be games where he's more or less suited depending on who we play. He's not some bargain bin Matt Smith we picked up in desperation. Football fans are getting so much weirder every year about their own players25

Nathaniel Chalobah has 40 England U21 caps and of course there's jeopardy with this signing but at long last the penny has dropped with CAFC and a 1 year contract makes sense for a player who is a championship proven player IF he can stay fit.3 -

Well obviously with Reece B-. But before that when we got in Dan Potts and he played loads of.. Er Pan Camara put his injury issues behind... Todd Kane...Ryan Inniss...Chuks Aneke...Pape Souare...Jonny Williams and Adam Matthews never missed a d-...OK, fine, maybe we're not good at taking injury-prone players and getting them fit again but look at it another way: what about all the perfectly healthy players we've signed and crippled for life?
