Thank you.AndyG said:
No mate and they never will. Carter did openly say that IF someone came along and offered enough money for the whole club then it could be sold. Absolutely nothing wrong with that imo. In those circumstances I would say that 99% of clubs are for sale. I honestly think people are looking for issues where none existBraziliance said:Genuine question.
Has a representative of the club categorically denied that the the club isn't for sale?
I am talking a statement like "the rumours are not true, we have a long term plan at Charlton, and we have no intention of selling this club, fans can rest assured."
As all I can find is "we are looking for investors and the owners have a plan" which isn't the same.
Let's just hope they spend enough money to make us a competitive Championship side while they wait for the right offer to come in down the line. That's all I hope for now.4 -
A good chance that any potential investor might well be US based, so perhaps the owners are casting the net while there's a 'soccer high' there following the world cup7

They flew over to watch the game, unlike you so that makes them real fans 🤣🤣SDAddick said:
I was up at 3am for the Playoff Final, why can't they be up to approve the signing of a LW from Boreham Wood?WSS said:A tiny NJ snippet from Rich's latest substack. Pay the fiver for the rest...We have excellent owners, we really do. We think there is real sanity in our decisions and we have a direct line to them, which you wouldn’t believe how rare that is. If I need a decision made on something, I can get it within an hour - provided it isn’t seven o’clock in the morning and three AM in LA, for example.
Lazy. I want them out!1 -
Something I've wondered about is why use an agency to tout the investment offer at all.
I don't move in the world of hedge funds, more's the pity, so maybe there is some ethical or legal barrier to this but Friedman's hedge fund looks after money for a lot of presumably very wealthy people.
Is he not allowed to send an email saying "anyone fancy a punt on this English football club I part own?"
Maybe he wants to keep his work and leisure lives separate?5 -

Would look to me to be a potential conflict of interest. It could be possible but full disclosure of the fund manager's interest must be made, and the fund manager must act in the best interests of their investors.7 -
That seems logical. Thanks.bobmunro said:Henry Irving said:Something I've wondered about is why use an agency to tout the investment offer at all.

I imagine it’s exactly the same as a group email for the work World Cup sweepstake.Henry Irving said:Something I've wondered about is why use an agency to tout the investment offer at all.

Not lose £16 million a year.5 -
The idea of using these agencies is that they should have potential investors lined up already. Clients who are looking to make investments, but need some formal guidance on where the opportunities are. It’s why I’m a little surprised at the choice of this current agency as they seem to have little exposure to football and the main one I can see (777) was a disaster.4

Am I right in thinking Carter said we had multiple agencies looking for us? Putting that together with Matt Slater saying bids are due next week I wonder if Oakwell were struggling to get any bites due to a lack of football connections and so leaked it to The Guardian to get more eyes on itTelMc32 said:The idea of using these agencies is that they should have potential investors lined up already. Way I see it is that the owners have been oversold how sustainably we could be ran by Methven, hence him being out the door. Reckon they still have an interest but want someone else in to help spread the costs to something closer to what they were of assured of, but at the same time, would probably be open to selling the whole club if someone came in at the right price3

A specialist sports agency now being involved makes sense, but this seems to be relatively new territory for them.

I think that is closer to actual situation.CAFCsayer said:Way I see it is that the owners have been oversold how sustainably we could be ran by Methven, hence him being out the door. Methvan deffo oversold his ability, and the market reality, to increase commercial income to reduce losses.
I also don't think they are actively looking to sell 100% but they will never say never, what business person does?3 -

The Championship is clearly a problematic division financially. There seems little point in just spending enough to keep your head above water with all the losses involved every season. But you have massive spending by clubs chasing the riches and you have to compete with these. The fact that a club like Hull managed it should give hope that it is possible but if you don't want to spunk millions away every year for no outcome I suppose there is sense in increasing your chances of success by spreading the costs.0
