Can you name any women that act like Infantino, Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, that cling to power?Off_it said:
That's not exclusively a male trait.ME14addick said:The world is full of men who crave power and the ability to enrich themselves. They don't care what they do to get it.
Infantino thought he could say sorry and that would be the end of the matter, glad to see that UEFA and others are not willing to let him carry on.
How arrogant of FIFA to say they will not tolerate attacks on their integrity. They must not be allowed to get away with it.
OK then, I'll tell you one - my boss. There.
The world's most power crazed, authoritarian, money obsessed individuals tend to be men.

Actually, you made the comment - I just pointed out that it isn't a trait that's exclusive to men.ME14addick said:

Anyway, I think you've begrudgingly agreed with me now because you've switched to "most" are men. So thanks.3 -
Dr Patrice Motsepe, the president of CAF, said: "CAF welcomes and endorses the 'Joint Update' by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom.
"For us in Africa, adherence to governance, due process and transparency is crucial and non-negotiable, as this is the practice and conduct we expect from our governments, business and other institutions and organisations”
This has got to be one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time!

"For us in Africa, adherence to governance, due process and transparency is crucial and non-negotiable, as this is the practice and conduct we expect from our governments, business and other institutions and organisations. We would like to thank President Infantino and Secretary General Grafstrom for their deep understanding of the decision making process in Africa and their prompt settlement of the increqsed share of funds owed to African Nations from the World Cup alongside the additional Solidarity payments recently agreed to be paid in cryptocoin to Swiss bank accounts in the names of our Association leaders and Presidents.'

Mexico and Argentina are supporting Infantino. Which doesn't surprise me from those two countries with the way they're run..1

I think the European teams are going to split from FIFA and then it will be a question of which other federations join them. From South America, the only country we would miss is Brazil, but they would be a big miss. Infantino will bribe enough smaller nations to get the votes he needs. By resigning he could solve the problem but he clearly is only worried about himself so no chance of that happening.3

Reported in the Telegraph that
Infantino apparently had an affair with a junior employee whilst at Uefa. He paid her off with a bung using uefa money and paid for a training course for her re-employment elsewhere.
This might add to his woes a bit as his wife and 4 kids knew nothing about it.2 -
I totally disagree, whilst I’d absolutely love to see the downfall of fixing of FIFA it’s unfair to say most South American nations wouldn’t be missed in any form of breakaway. It’s the World Cup. we might not miss their glory or the advertising revenue, but we would still miss them.MuttleyCAFC said:I think the European teams are going to split from FIFA and then it will be a question of which other federations join them. Surely the hope would be this breakaway would grow over numerous tournaments as countries ‘see the light’ and it’d be just our luck to win the first ever World Cup-ish. 🤣0 -

FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino have been accused of breaking trust "through deception" in an open letter issued by UEFA, CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation.
The letter, signed by the presidents and general secretaries, said recent controversy over the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal was fundamentally about "the integrity of the game, and the integrity of those elected to lead it".

FWIW: UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC represent 136 of 211 FIFA votes
We know Mexico is remaining on Infantino's gravy train so the smug Swiss/Iti crook has to get another 29 of those nations to at least not vote against him to be able to sustain his teflon position as beneficiary in chief of FIFA's money making operation.
The Telegraph story is nicely timed for the current anti Infantino pile on but I'm not sure it is any sort of coup de grace.
GI might have been screwing a colleague. Many have done so, many continue so to do. Often it's a no-no for senior staff, not always. People leave jobs all the time, some of them are entitled to severance packages. The alleged paramour seemingly was due one from UEFA back then, maybe wouldn't be today.
Rumours of workplace jiggy-jiggy and one or more participants getting a payoff don't look good from this end of the telescope but there's no smoking gun. Higher profile scumbags have blatantly paid off pecadillos for it to be no more than a few days media hectoring and so much yesterday's chip wrappers.
As always with the chatter around office affair stories, the assumption is abuse of power by the perceived senior staff (ahem) member. That always disregards the possibility that a shallow peacock boss gets smoke blown up his arse by a savvy colleague he fancies and the savvy colleague cheerfully enhances their status and finances as a result. Underlings have agency too. There's none so easily manipulated than the desperately vain.
Bribery and embezzlement are two ways up the greasy pole, shagging the boss is also a choice that plenty freely make.
Don't get me wrong I want the shameless arsehole to get the bullet and be hung out to dry for the arse kissing snake he so obviously is but we're nowhere near that yet.
We all knew Blatter was as wrong as any wrong'un but his carefully greased wheels kept him in post for yonks.
All the individual member nation associations get one vote and the crumbs that Infantino, and Blatter before him, tosses to the footballing minnows have been keeping him in post and scrutiny free. Be in no doubt how significant even the World Cup For Sale bungs of $20M a pop are to so many of the African and Oceania member nations, not just their FA's.
When push comes to shove how many individual FA's, ours included, will torpedo their chance to win the "FIFA World Cup" in 2030 because slimeball in chief made a dick of himself, again?
The leading participants in the aborted(?) European Super League are all still running their football clubs, completely unscathed by their PR disaster of a few years ago.
The trough in which they all have their snouts is deep and tasty indeed, they won't be lifting their heads to make too much noise for very long.1 -
I'm slightly disappointed that the days of middle aged male bosses sleeping with their much more attractive junior female employees ended some time before i became middle aged and the employer of attractive female junior staff. Not that i would ever have abused my power in that way, no sirree Bob.4
