Usually with an option to buy, you can incentivise it so that a player signs even if you plan to sell them on in the same window. If he's absolutely brilliant, you'd like to think we can make it work for him and us one way or another.

I see that the keeper Millwall had on loan from Sunderland is going to Wrexham for £8 million. Madness.
Crazy, that’s all our potential powder in one go.

Ouma's chant was already determined the other day
If it was determined to be anything other than this I will be dissappointed

    Is that Brazilliance?
Yes, he’s expanding his blogging to add a cabaret section and postal delivery and t shirt service - I think that’s the business plan chizz laid out for him

Enough of this old twaddle, let's get to the real question regarding this signing, have we ever had a 'Timothy' in the first eleven ?

Cawley says Ouma will be a loan with option to buy.

It's all gone quiet on Redmond?
It was never very loud on Redmond was it? He was a body about the place but any vague chance of a contract probably ended with his

looking at his deal that fell through price agreed if he a success appox 3 mill

So still keeping our powder dry or owners are not backing NJ?
Frees up the funds to make the big splash on Holsgrove still… right?
It’s not freed up funds cause that will be taken out the budget now to cover the agree fee appox 3 mill

Has there ever been a bad boy dominant midfielder destroyer called Timothy ? (Not having Sherwood)

I mean, I can’t see a scenario where we don’t have millions left to spend if we were told the budget was the same yoy.

If the RW is also a loan we must have another splash coming
    Increased wages.

The budget is fees AND wages

If he does well doesn’t that just mean a Championship club with a far bigger budget comes in and offers £5-10m and a huge wage?

I’m not convinced any options will protect us from that if the player wants the move and the selling club can get a much bigger fee.
It will all be part of deal fee agreed now and we will have first call to buy him .. whether we wait till end of season or even January

Don't mind a loan with an option to make it permanent. Works well for both sides if the attitude concerns do strike or if we've found an absolute gem.

Would people accept Ouma and a loan winger if it meant we were guaranteed to get Jones, Ramsay and TC on renewed contracts?

    Yes

Be interesting now to see who leaves. This  takes us up to 26 players so someone will have to go.

With Ouma's reputation, a loan with option to prove himself seems to be very sensible and logical business.

If the winger is also a loan with an option, then I will be content at the investment in the window.

The caveat being, that should we take up both options, the club can't dine out on that investment being part of the summer window powder provision for 2027. That spend has to be taken out of the dry powder in storage from this summer, and not out of any future powder provisions.

The caveat to my caveat, is that if we did somehow sign a 3rd player and use all the powder we have, knowing that 2 of our summer signings are allocated against the future powder, then that would be a fair powder deployment.

If NJ and the board ask me very nicely, then possibly yes

We’re on more than that aren’t we? Asiimwe and Kanu don’t count as u21 so we need to move them or others on, plus one more, and another if and when we sign a RW.

    Yes, definitely.

There really isn't the space for any more players unless 3 or 4 leave, although I feel TC will leave this month anyway.

For all the staunch defences and appraisals of Conor Coventry, nobody seems at all concerned that his contract runs out next summer.

No. Someone will have to not be registered.

Think that game clearly highlighted where we’re still lacking.

Chalobah miles better than Coventry need someone else on his kind of level to partner him. Looked like we didn’t play with a RW annoyingly Grant and TC just so much better off the left and if we can find a team to take Kaminski so we can sign a new no.1 would be a miracle
    I thought Coventry was outstanding...
I agree. I don't understand all the negative comments about Coventry. He was very good on Saturday.
Perhaps he has read all the comments on Charlton life and has upped his game .

I like it a lot but not sure where this leaves the "Nathan Jones hates loans" agenda

When you have an ‘option to buy’ do you need to show the other club proof that you do have those funds/lock them up somewhere.

Just so you can’t use it as a convenient negotiating tool to get a player in over another team when you never had the intention of buying them?

I think he doesn’t like the idea of taking young players on loan, coaching them and giving them first team exposure only for the parent club to reap the benefit - I think our Kenyan enforcer is in a different category entirely

    Kaminsky, Mannion, Brooks
    Ramsay, McNamara
    Edwards, Mesik
    Koumetio, Bell
    Jones, Sichenje, Burke
    Chalabah, Coventry
    Ouda, Docherty, JRC
    Carey, Knibbs
    Campbell, Grant, Alli, Apter
    Godden, Kelman
    Leaburn, Mbick (U21)

26 plus Mbick who isn’t counted towards the total is how I see the squad

Then we have Fullah, Mwamba, Kanu, Asiimwe also as U21’s

Is this the first time this season that Rich Cawley has confirmed the deal is done before the club?

    I wouldn’t have thought so.

The key word is option, we’re not tied into anything at this stage. I think it’s essentially a fee would have already been agreed should we wish to pursue it at a later date. Were it an obligation to buy it would likely be different.

Playing devils advocate, that would depend on jones keeping his form in a two centre backs formation, TC becoming the player we hope he has the potential to be, and Ramsay cuts out the silly stuff, would also include Leaburn in this as he needs to step up. I hope they all renew and all improve as things would look good for us, but more so for this board when they decide to cash in.

Pretty sure Cawley has confirmed most deals a few mins before the club.

Was thinking he currently sits in a weird place where he doesn't really give us anything on rumours which means he undermines club announcements because we know deals are 100% done when he comments on them.

Not a criticism, just an observation that we don't really have any journalists that comment on rumours related to us anymore. That's why this thread is so addictive.
