Dina Asher Smith only 5th despite season best time.
Her Euro record is very impressive with 6 gold and 2 silvers (2016-2024). Hopefully she's not finished yet at 30.

I don’t know who makes these decisions but the public are voting with their feet.
I’ve never seen an athletics meet that empty.

The crowd looks like the sort of attendances we usually criticise when these championships are held in far flung non athletics countries

These are the prices and seat charts for the next two evenings. As it gets to the weekend the prices go up further with the pink ones £150

Should be more tickets available for £40. Going Thursday and Friday evening. Expensive £150 per ticket.

That ramped up a bit this year, but there is also the difference between a one of off event feature many of the worlds best and a 13 session spread event with largely tier 2 / 3 athletes. Ingebrigtsen is just incredible, that was his first race in nearly a year after an injury that really should have ended his career. he now has 7 european golds having only entered 7 events
great stuff from Hunt, the question is can she win 4 golds? a big favourite in the 200, favourite in the 4x100 if the baton gets round and a chance in the mixed relay
the other stand out for me yesterday was Elise Thorner, she looked so comfortable qualifying2 -
Attendances are a bit better than they look. Stadium just over half filled so far. Looks worse, as like at Charlton, the empty bits are where the cameras focus. £150 in Birmingham, to a stadium where public transport is poor, is taking the piss. Would be nice if London could bid but West Ham and LDCC won't allow.0

Very small stadium, about 10,000 which compares with Birmingham 25,000. The crowds at the European would more than filled Birmingham.PrincessFiona said:

The crowds announced have been rather more than it looked like in the stadium (I was there for Monday). I don't think it was even half full. I suspect there are a lot of seats reserved for the various competing teams and they get counted as occupied whether there are people in them or not.
The £10 seats are for morning sessions (so no finals only heats) and seats in the uncovered bits on the bends. Lots of those were empty too, not just the expensive ones. I'm told numbers are better for the tail end of the week. But £100 quid and above for a 3-hour session is pretty steep even if you're getting some high-profile finals in every evening session.
Personally I don't think £100 was particularly unfair as a price for a seat on the back straight pretty much opposite the finish line. I had a great view of the finishes of the women's 100m, men's 5000 and mixed 4x400. However there's no denying that they got the pricing wrong because it if had been right the stadium would have been close to full.4
