Koumetio and Grant have been excellent, as have mostly Coventry and Chalobah. TC had a poor first 30 but tore them apart once he got moved to his favoured left.

I wonder how many games it will take for us to go back to five at the back ?

Personally think we've played okay apart from a few minutes either side of their goal. Carey saved us plenty of times last season but really lacks the guile we need from a "10". Unfortunately Knibbs is a similar style of player. TC been full of menace since switching to the left. Koumetio looks good but Jones has been a bit off so far.

Hopefully none as we don't have the players for it now

Good until the final third. Similar to what we saw last season with less long balls.

Apter on for Carey, Grant in the middle of the 3
Agreed. Or Leaburn on for Godden. It’s not working. We’re going to need a better centre forward this season I think but can’t see us getting one this month.

Feel sorry for Matty Gooden being fed so much aerial ball- it’s simply not his game. Midfield is still an issue and the desperate long ball punts were  worrying after we went behind. TC didn’t make the most of his dominance  and I can’t believe Derby won’t get their left back sorted 2nd half. We got stop this aimless punt into the box which is totally ineffective and start shooting when the opportunity presents. I can see 1 -1 so long as Derby don’t have another 10 mins  of controlled possession.

I think the plan will be to shift in game depending on circumstances

Cov dictating play, just a little more end product from TC required

TC looking a real threat, although the decision to shoot when he should have crossed was criminal
    A threat??  To whom??

If he had a left foot he would be dangerous. Not only that but his decision making is poor. He'll never make a top player as he just doesn't have it in him.

He needs extra training. Train him with only his left boot on and make him cross the ball.

TC has been good on the left.

Our set pieces aren't good enough. Last season we had Bree's delivery for half a season,  then Clarke's long throws for the second half,  and we haven't replaced that. I want Carey on the edge of the box, not taking set pieces

Why do we keep smashing up high to Godden, particularly Mannion. Contributed to the goal and as a tactic it’s pathetic.

Overall I thought we looked pretty good apart from the disintegrating defence around their goal. Carey sadly is too slow and most of his passes are the wrong option. Tyreece got better as the half wore on. Godden I've barely seen.

I thought Koumetio has been one of our better players. However, Bell isn't a LB. Not sure why we have ditched the five at the back but we haven't recruited a proper RWB so we are sort of stuck with four at the back. And Jones doesn't look as secure in a four. TC on the right should never happen again. Much more effective on the left but his decision making is very poor. Need to improve to get anything today.

Really hope we stop lumping it forward, what chance has Godden got of winning it?
Some situations you have no option but to play it. On the whole we’ve looked to play it on the floor.

The only thing I would say is when we do have to go long, can the ball be better. If it’s floated in the air he has no chance.

We've played well enough for it to be 0-0...just a moment of indecision by Jones cost us

All too much same old same old. Have a lot of the ball but no end product. If you are going to play with wingers then theh need to be able to cross the ball with the "right" foot  left winger crossing with his left & right winger crossing with his right.

Look at Blackburn's second goal last night

I agree with the no end product part, but not sure we spent much of last season having enough of the ball. The forward patterns look much improved.

Same old same old - Carey takes all the corners, Carey takes the free kicks, TC still has poor decision making & no end result.

At least we weren’t passing it around the back, but I haven’t yet seen anything to make me feel optimistic about the season

I don't know if he's being eased in, but I'm surprised Bell has been starting ahead of Mesik at LB. Mesik will give us more of an attacking threat down the left, with the combination with the right footed winger ahead of him.

I think Carey and TC have the same problem, shoot or pass. Otherwise we are going forward more than last season and more exciting
