Can they charge two different prices for the same beer depending what stand you’re in?
Seems pretty wrong to me as does the ludicrous “you can’t just have chips” policy.
Wankers deserve to make no money from catering.
Even Ipswich have the beer vending machines now…
  • Emailed the club.

Hopefully they take on board all the constructive criticism.

Because for a club in the 2nd tier it has to be better especially if they want to grow the clubs revenue.

I think that's just league one.

Edit: oh you meant the one in the ground 😆

I had the jerk chicken box in the fan zone, it was decent enough but took far too long to prepare and was £14.50…. Ridiculous pricing, what with the excruciating music being played by a 13 year old DJ, the tv above the meantime brewery unit was not switched on to watch the Bolton game, it then took 3-4 people running around for 10 minutes like headless chicken to get it sorted, they get this so wrong on every level.
    My last visit

I went there once but the music put me right off. As far as I could see hardly anyone was enjoying the music. Either don’t have it or have more than one genre played that includes music for all age groups.
Our group all said it to the fella who walks around with the microphone, queen, abba, madness, the killers etc, bit of 80’s & 90’s, trouble is, the young lad is playing music for his tastes, not the audience.

I said similar to my old man as we looked down from the Upper West concourse. Only I don't think he heard me because the music was so loud, so fuck knows how loud it was down there.

It's the sort of place where surely you play either no music at all or a bit of everything, mix it up a bit.

Mind you, I don't really see the attraction at all of standing in a queue in a fenced off bit of a car park paying through the nose for sub-standard food and drink. The shite music is just the turd on top of the cess pit.

    But each to their own.

Only £1.50 for producing a portion of "jerk gravy" sounds reasonable. You'd pay a lot more for that up Soho-way.

Those burger prices are crazy, I hope they're good for that money.

Be interesting to see how the catering is at West Ham and Spurs.

Only been in the home end at both,  West Ham no better than ours , Tottenham was decent

The music in the fan zone is too loud! Probably makes me old but you want to be able to chat after spending £20 on a beer & a burger & there’s nowhere to sit - probably my last visit in there, it’s a nice idea but it’s poorly executed at the moment

Unfortunately, these are the going rates for food nowadays!

Even the burgers on the vans by Harvey gardens are getting pricey, for what is no different to a McDonald cheeseburger(£1.19)

Whilst everyone wants good food…I think street food, and football food has gone too far one way in trying to be something it’s not and actually something no one really wants AKA cheap food, that tastes good and doesn’t take an ages to get.

100 yards back in the other direction and you can pay half of that from the burger van at the end of Harvey Gardens. Not exactly rocket science is it!

Fan zone closed after match despite invitations from mic announcements to come back after match for an hour

club is leaving so much money on the table
We went there after the game and we were told it was closed due to a medical incident

There was an ambulance there and someone laying on a stretcher being attended to.

The club have sent out a survey this money asking about the matchday experience. This is the opportunity to make complaints and send in pictures if you have them

It's also worth sending the club an email on Fans@cafc.co.uk. The Fan Advisers are aware of it though and shared disappointment too apparently, so hopefully they'll address it.

It's just a shame that they've not learned the lessons from last season as the exact same thing happened then
  • Really hope someone from the club reads this!
    covered end lower,
    bar service,shit
    food average, service, shit
    beer choice peroni ok,meantime ,shit
( better choice of beer needed, ask the fans what they want and go with a couple of majority suggestions)
do away with pumps get more fridges and sell bottled beer (plastic bottles) where possible, it will be quicker!
    prices, shit,too expensive.
The concourse was a health hazard due to the heat and lots of people, it was obvious to open gates for a bit more air flow, like majority of grounds do, easily policed with a few stewards and barriers.
Other than that good start to the season 😁

    Matchday survey filled in.
  • Sainsbury’s at the top of Floyd Road looked to be  doing roaring trade. Hundreds of fans leaving with tinnies. Then I saw why. A pint sized can of Peroni is <£2 where a pint in the ground of terribly poured, dead Peroni is £8. Begs the question, why not just sell cans and bottles

Inwouldnt mind jerk chicken / wings and chips. But £15 for chicken dippers and chips sounds a lot.

did anyone have either, was either nice? Photos?!  Didnt look busy at half time

we got in at 2.45pm and the peroni had run out in west upper. Apart from that, seemed ok. Didnt seem like much difference in quality of beer or timing. Seemed like they had stopped pre pouring pints and it was poured to order.

OMG have you seen the food pictures on "Charlton’s No 1 Fans Group MANY MILES HAVE WE TRAVELLED" on FB? Not my pictures so won't post but have a look.
    Yeah I saw that.
the sausage roll (I think that’s what it is) looks like it’s come from 1945 Hiroshima.

I had a nose at their instagram and admittedly the pics look good on there, definitely has some Chicken George vibes going on so I may give it a go next game. Does feel expensive though paying £15 for it though
  • The worrying thing is that someone in our club has approved the menu options and now you can’t buy chips on their own!!!

    That’s just ridiculous.

People are writing on here that the club took on board all the criticism from last season but the facts are that they haven’t got better.

Not good enough from a professional company.

North lower. After a stupidly long queue I got to the counter 20 minutes before the game to be told  no burgers. Was offered a hot dog so I had that, which consisted of a dry roll a cheap sausage. No onions or garnish of any sort. When I asked where the tomato sauce was the young woman pulled a face and said I don’t know, she asked  two colleagues  who also shrugged. I ate half of it and put it in the bin.
Went to get water at half time but they had run out. Total shit show .
Il be going to the burger van outside in future.

If travelling by train there is the possibility of a Greggs vegan sausage roll (sometimes other vegan/vegetarian choices) from London Bridge station, or in Powis street Woolwich or just outside Blackheath station. They have branches in Lewisham and at Dartford station and many others including near the Asda on the Charlton retail footprint.
It is possible to pick up a reasonably priced cold drink from the Sainsbury’s local and other convenience outlets. All those suggestions can be smuggled in.
I write this for those supporters like me for whom meat and fish make us gag, and also for those pensioners like me who need to watch the pennies.
I have never read from any source anything from any catering outlet anywhere on the Valley footprint about any research about what our supporters actually want.
I believe that might explain the overpriced doubtful stuff being sold as ‘food’ and drink.
Evening and mid day kick offs are one’s where people can look out for themselves.
Also a shout out for the marvellous Valley Cafe if you can get a seat. Two veggie sausages, grilled tomatoes, chips and a tea (plus a sit down) comes in at less than £10.
