Is he a left back? CBT got past him every time
Yeah he's more suited to the left hand side, but played Right-Back when he came on yesterday

I’m really unclear who was meant to be playing fullback v CBT, if anyone. Last week Collins came on at right back but he was in the middle.

In fairness, CBT skipped past Alli every time, not Mesik.

We swapped to a 5 but Mesík at RWB was very narrow. It left it unclear if Alli was meant to be tracking back as a winger or not. Two players who have never played a back 5 for us and were playing out of position. It was an odd tactical decision

Yeah weird subs from NJ at the time, thought Mesík was coming on for a tiring Bell, and Sichenje was coming on to play right back. The switch to the back 5 and relinquishing any control in the midfield left us pinned back

Mwamba was ready to come on at one point, I think him and one of the defenders would have been a better choice, keeping the shape and allowing Alli to be more of an out ball for the team alongside Leaburn

We got the job done but it wasn't pretty

Hope to see Mesík in his natural position soon

Reading the programme last night, there was no player profile for Mesik ? @Ollywozere

I hope Mesik isn’t one of those players that Jones seems to hardly ever play in their best position. I suppose it’s a consequence of having some versatility but it never works out well in the end and must frustrate the hell out of the player.

Did I imagine Ivan surging very positively to the Derby by-line towards the end of the game and sticking in a decent cross field ball?

Yeah was a great sign. And he clearly has the physicality to be a great defender. Only thing we haven't seen yet really is the 1v1 defending. Of he has that he's the complete package. If he doesn't he's a risk in a back 4.

For a 19 year old Croat making his debut this evening, I thought he was excellent.

Would start Bell at LCB on Saturday and start Mesik. Good performance from hkm

If you’re doing that play Bell at LB and Mesík at CB

I know but Mesik seems to have a bit more pace about him, I'm happy either way really

Comparing him to the other squad depth options he was much more convincing than some of the other players on the pitch

Yeh I think Mesik will be fairly regular by the end of the season compared to a lot who started tonight.

Looked good at CB and LB.

Proper utility player. Can play LB, RB, CB in both a 2 and 3. And looks good at all of them. Gonna need him sooner than expected

Firmly believe he'll oust Bell soon, and possibly Edwards too.

Going to need him a lot in the next few weeks at the very least
