  • Don’t know where this Okonkwo on 20k has come from. He signed when they were in League One. Someone posted something the other day that stated he earned the least of their four keepers on 5k pw hence why he wanted a move. The fact is no one really knows what he earns but I’d wager 20k is way wide of the mark.

Watched a 15 minute Sky clip yesterday, Wrexham game 2025/2026 season. Okonkwo played & had a stinker & was at fault for a goal.
    Just saying.
Oh no. A goalie made a mistake. We can't sign anyone who's made a mistake, he's a liability. *looks closer at Okonkwo* probably lazy too
We haven’t had a good keeper for a long time , Leuth.  Lots of scarring .

Next week, away to Wet Spam, Doc will be on the bench. I'd lay odds on it.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't on the bench for most, if not all, of our away games. Exactly the right man to come on when things are tough. Especially for his leadership. Which I've never seen a stat for...
So Docherty is still here for the season

Everyone wants TC to sign a new contract

The GK situation is one out & one in.

JRC had a decent game & was praised by NJ, so maybe not leaving after all.

You do know we are about 3 players over the 25 man squad limit already   AND we still need to bring in a RW.

So who exactly IS going to leave for us to register a squad of 25 ?????
I think a name that hasn't been mentioned but would be a loan out rather than permanent is Reece Burke. Collins Sichenje sits in front of him for the right side of a back three, if we continue to go with four at the back, his chances are reduced further. I think Nathan Jones may prefer to keep him because he feels he can rely on him when needed but something has to give to bring in the final piece of the jigsaw and a third choice right sided centre back may be jetisoned.
I actually think Burke is the best replacement for if Jones is ever injured or suspended. Better suited to playing in a back 4

As for a keeper, an outrageous bid for Lee Nicolls at Huddersfield or Sam Tickle at Wigan would be my preference, but nothing will happen until the Kaminski situation is sorted.
    Tickle went to Bristol City
  • Alex Palmer was left out of Ipswich’s squad for a pre season friendly in Berlin over the weekend.
  • When I hear Sam Tickle I think of Mr Tickle from the Mr Men, with his massive extending arms. He must surely be a great keeper lol.

Thanks Marcus, I didnt know that, I didnt even know they'd lost Vitec, who I thought was the best keeper in the championship last season.
Vitek was on loan. Been bought by Boro for a heavy fee

Vitek was on loan from Man Utd. Now joined Boro on a permanent deal.

Think this needs reposting as people seem to have fixed onto the 20k figure, isn't that TK's wage? Okonkwo is on somewhere between 5-8k so financially would be a sound move.
  • Alex Palmer was left out of Ipswich’s squad for a pre season friendly in Berlin over the weekend.
Linked heavily with West Brom Ipswich have also slapped a 3.5M asking price for him.
  • New GK, Mannion, Brooks
    Ramsay, McNamara, Asiimwe
    Jones, Sichenje, Burke
    Koumetio, Bell
    Edwards, Mesík
    Chalobah, Ouma
    Coventry, Docherty
    Carey, Knibbs, Rankin-Costello
    New RW, Apter
    Campbell, Grant, Alli
    Godden, Kelman, Leaburn, Kanu

Kanu, Asiimwe out, you need 2 more to go.

The extra names as it stands, you'd argue are Docherty, Rankin-Costello and one of the wingers. I'd say that NJ will want to keep all the wingers as each offers something different, TC might not sign, Apter might go on loan, but I feel like midfield is where we'll see the movement. Mwamba can come in as another midfielder, and Grant can be utilised in the CAM role, so I expect JRC to leave.

The other name on there that's a slight anomaly is Burke. Mesík can play in the middle of the park, Ramsay too in a back 3, so an aging and unfit third choice centre back may be seen as an unnecessary squad member

We have Ramsay and Edwards out, Bell and Koumetio are injury prone, Sichenje has struggled with fitness even if Burke isn’t needed now there may be some point where he will be needed

Thing is you can make this argument across the park. Coventry, Doc and Chalobah have all had injury issues in midfield as have Leaburn, Godden and Kelman up front. You have to leave yourself slightly exposed somewhere, it’s just about where

Is Burke in the last year of his contract ?
    Yes, with a club option

Mbick is gonna be in the squad so gonna need to lose another.

I would suggest Asiimwe, Kanu (but think we want a permanent move for him), Doc and then probably JRC

Mbick is young enough to not be registered

Ah great - same for Mwamba then?

in this case - definitely the four above as Mwamba is a midfield option anyway.

Mbick is only 19. Doesn’t count towards the squad cap.

Correct. Gough would also have been young enough which is why it’s a tiny bit puzzling he was sent out on loan, although it’s good for him to be getting game time.

Mwamba’s emergence suggests a midfielder can go, who is the big question. Two weeks ago I’d have said Knibbs was nailed on to play a big part this season but JRC came on in front of him despite being a more defensive player. Maybe Knibbs gets loaned?

There is rumoured interest in Docherty. If, as seems likely, we won’t renew his contract next season then getting a fee now might be the best option. Especially if we now have to spend on a keeper which wasn’t expected.
