    New GK, Mannion, Brooks
    Ramsay, McNamara, Asiimwe
    Jones, Sichenje, Burke
    Koumetio, Bell
    Edwards, Mesík
    Chalobah, Ouma
    Coventry, Docherty
    Carey, Knibbs, Rankin-Costello
    New RW, Apter
    Campbell, Grant, Alli
    Godden, Kelman, Leaburn, Kanu

Kanu, Asiimwe out, you need 2 more to go.

The extra names as it stands, you'd argue are Docherty, Rankin-Costello and one of the wingers. I'd say that NJ will want to keep all the wingers as each offers something different, TC might not sign, Apter might go on loan, but I feel like midfield is where we'll see the movement. Mwamba can come in as another midfielder, and Grant can be utilised in the CAM role, so I expect JRC to leave.

The other name on there that's a slight anomaly is Burke. Mesík can play in the middle of the park, Ramsay too in a back 3, so an aging and unfit third choice centre back may be seen as an unnecessary squad member
Mbick is gonna be in the squad so gonna need to lose another.

I would suggest Asiimwe, Kanu (but think we want a permanent move for him), Doc and then probably JRC
Mbick is young enough to not be registered
Ah great - same for Mwamba then?

in this case - definitely the four above as Mwamba is a midfield option anyway.
Correct. Gough would also have been young enough which is why it’s a tiny bit puzzling he was sent out on loan, although it’s good for him to be getting game time.

Mwamba’s emergence suggests a midfielder can go, who is the big question. Two weeks ago I’d have said Knibbs was nailed on to play a big part this season but JRC came on in front of him despite being a more defensive player. Maybe Knibbs gets loaned?
I think it would be a big mistake to loan out knibbs and Fullah at the same time, personally think knibbs should be getting game time in the 10

Next week, away to Wet Spam, Doc will be on the bench. I'd lay odds on it.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't on the bench for most, if not all, of our away games. Exactly the right man to come on when things are tough. Especially for his leadership. Which I've never seen a stat for...
So Docherty is still here for the season

Everyone wants TC to sign a new contract

The GK situation is one out & one in.

JRC had a decent game & was praised by NJ, so maybe not leaving after all.

You do know we are about 3 players over the 25 man squad limit already   AND we still need to bring in a RW.

So who exactly IS going to leave for us to register a squad of 25 ?????
Kanu Asiimwe which are obvious leaves 2 more out (once the RW comes in).

We have 8 first midfielders for 3 positions, one has to go based on what we’ve seen has to be doc.

Then it’s really anyone of JRC/Knibbs/Coventry/Apter

Personally think we pulled the trigger on signing Alli too early

I never got the logic of signing Alli, unless it was as a sort of TC replacement. 3 players who like the same position seems excessive.
Which is one of the reasons why I asked the question. Did we sign Alli thinking TC was off  ?? As we can see from the last couple of matches, TC is wasted on the right & Grant is either a 2nd striker or a left winger....certainly not someone who is comfortable on the right.

And then why get rid of Apter when we have just started playing a formation that suits him ?  And if he's that bad we are happy to lose him why put him on the bench yesterday.

And as can be seen by the numerous posts on here, everyone has different ideas as to who to play & who to loan out / sell.

None of it makes much sense.

I’m with you there but *someone* has to go from the midfield
  • I think it’s a distant one now but Holsgrove is not involved in the Estoril squad again today.

I feel like it could be Knibbs. The fact that JRC and Grant got time in the 10 role before Knibbs seems a bit telling
  • Don’t know where this Okonkwo on 20k has come from. He signed when they were in League One. Someone posted something the other day that stated he earned the least of their four keepers on 5k pw hence why he wanted a move. The fact is no one really knows what he earns but I’d wager 20k is way wide of the mark.
Rich Cawley said on his podcast that the salary he has heard Onkonkwo is on would make him by far our highest earner
  • Bring in a keeper, move on Kaminski
Bring in a RW, move on Apter
Bring in Holsgrove, move on JRC
Move on Kanu, Asiimwe and Doc

    Window over.

    Get it done!

Interesting. I trust Rich more than anyone, all I heard was that he was closer to higher League 1 wages than upper Championship.

Either way, we are interested in him definitely from what I have heard.

  • Rankin-Costello has the versatility on his side, can play in the 10, in the pivot and right back

Doc is captain and I firmly believe if it was up to him he'd sign a contract extension, he loves it here, but at 29 he also probably feels he can and should be playing every week, and that's not on the table for him here anymore

Knibbs leaving presents us with a similar position to last year where even when bang out of form we kept playing Carey as we had no viable alternative

I'd go Asiimwe, Kanu, Burke and Rankin-Costello out if it was possible, and give Doc a few months to see if he looks any better in a midfield with higher quality players, but with the option to then move him on in January
  • The New Zealand, and Millwall, keeper Crocombe would probably be a better choice than Onkonkwo.

Whatever his wages are it won’t make a difference, Wrexham can’t have a 3rd choice keeper on that amount of money. They will have to get rid of him we just need to make sure we offer more than Bolton do to get him.

Too early? We should never have signed him at all. Nowhere near Championship standard. Even Fevrier would have been better, and he was not great.

Because in theory they should all be able to play on either wing.

I’ve never gotten that wingers should be equally as good on either side. How many times do you see fullbacks play on both sides in football not many completely changes how you play the game

Bizarre to write off a new signing so early. We know he showed enough at Portsmouth to offer something, even if it's just some pace and trickery from the bench.
  • I think it’s a distant one now but Holsgrove is not involved in the Estoril squad again today.
This bit of NJs post match comments made me think of Holsgrove and wonder if we are still trying,.just not expecting success...I'm probably wrong.

"We pretty much signed everyone we wanted to, maybe we have missed out on one at this point. “We are (looking for one more)…that may turn into two. We are looking to add more attacking potency to our line up.”

I think he’s talking about the RW and the into two is referring to a goalkeeper.

I don't see Holsgrove coming in now we've signed Ouma. The squad size is already an issue. Unless NJ wants to get rid of Knibbs AND Docherty
  • I have a feeling TC will extend/even might have already (just my suspicion) ...
I pay more attention to NJ's immediately post-match remarks, as he is less composed and has not had time to resume corporate speak. He said of Campbell, "That's why we fought so hard to keep him", suggesting that fight is now over and a decision has been reached. By his ebullient mood, it must have been a favourable one.

    Why ?

David Beckham was one of the best crosses of a football the Prem has seen. But I bet he'd had trouble playing on the left.

So you made that judgement on what ??? He looks a very tricky winger who showed last week like Grant yesterday he can cross a ball and create chances …
  • I think it will be Doc that leaves, good captain, good pro and good bloke but I don’t think he’s quite at this level. Knibbs gives us an option in the 10 and JRC can cover 3 positions so I think that puts them both ahead of Doc.
  • Okonkwo signed for Wrexham when they were in league one after a successful loan (in league two). Even with the money they throw at players, surely his wages aren't crazy high?

Agree even with a promotion wage hike I would be surprised if he’s on any more than 10k

I would guess he’s somewhere between 10 and 20. Wrexham were paying L1 wages to players they deemed worth it while in the NL. That and him coming from Arsenal means I wouldn’t be surprised if he was on 9/10k in L1 and then had a 20% bump on promotion
  • Could someone not just phone up and bloody ask him!? This endless "he's on....", "no he's not!" is doing my melon in.

  • I think it’s a distant one now but Holsgrove is not involved in the Estoril squad again today.
Even if we were about to sign him ( and I doubt it ) he’ll need a few games to get match fit as he seems to have been left out of their last few games .
