🎂 20 years ago today we launched this site! We’ve seen ups and downs, downs, more downs, then some ups, some back downs, and now… we’re clearly on the up again!
It’s a major milestone on our quest for world domination so I couldn’t let it pass without saying a heartfelt thanks to everyone over the years that has contributed to the community here and has helped to make it a success.

Comfortably the best football forum on the internet. That's not just because it's a Charlton one, but because of the quality of discussion both on footballing and non-footballing matters, the good naturedness of the vast majority of members, the functionality, look and feel of the site and the fact that any advertising is low key and doesn't festoon the place. Charlton Life is a real credit, not just to its creators (although, of course it is a credit to them), but to the many hundreds of Charlton fans, and a few others who regularly post here. Joined briefly to find what people were saying about whether Parkinson should be sacked and who should replace him and 12.5k posts later I’m still here.Massive thanks to AFKA, Lookout and all involved in running the forum. I agree with others that there a better football site anywhere on the internet.7

Genuinely feels a lifetime ago from when me and @LoOkOuT first met a couple of months before we went live. I remember being so nervous in whether it would take off, and the excitement waking up in the morning of the first week and see we had new members joining overnight!I look down now and i can see around 100 members visiting today who had a first visit in 2006. I can see many others that have changed usernames in the years since. Thanks all so much to you ‘lifers’ for keeping this site as part of your lives and routine over the last two decades. Sadly, it’s equally sobering looking back at those 2006 users and seeing many names that have sadly passed in the years since.Just want to give a massive shout out to @LoOkOuT whose idea this was all those years ago. Our lives have changed so much in the 20 years since and running this has been really challenging at times. but despite our long distance relationship it’s been a genuine pleasure to share this journey with him. There’s been many highs and lows, but between us we’ve never had a cross word or disagreement about CL. Thanks buddy 💪75

Joined early Jan 2007 and been on here most days since. Knew a fair few members before but have made a lot of friends since. Brought it home how long I’ve been on here, @northstandsteve posted that my daughter had been born and I posted last week when she passed her driving test.10

Hard to explain but as someone living in Ireland with no family history with Charlton, and while try I go over as much as I can, this place is brilliant for keeping that link/connection with Charlton.
Especially during those many bleak L1 years, the match threads always offered lots of humour

Pretty much the only bit of social media that I use - well done AFKA and Lookout - never seen either of you properly lose it with anybody on here - must have been some seriously testing moments as other than me, nobodies perfectly behaved 👏👏👏8

A relative newbie, although I read for years before I posted. I love this place, it's the nicest place on the internet. Plenty of jokes but it's always gentle ribbing. Plus, where else can I read pages of fish puns?8
