We visited Cragside house this week, local family touring round and one of the kids in a snugly fitting Real Madrid kit looked like Augustus Gloop. As they left the room my wife sidled up to me and whispered "Augustus Gloop". I couldn't help wondering how many people walking round were thinking exactly the same?Carter said:Fat kids waddling their fat arses around with even fatter parents
No excuse for that, its one thing to willfully fill yourself with butter and sugar then become a burden because these lardarses are never working or will need constant medical appointments and support. Its another entirely to let a child get as grotesque as some of these butterballs I've seen whilst out keeping the economy going today.
The little fat bastards are generally obnoxious too as they have no concept of boundaries, restraint or the word 'no'
"He won't eat vegetables, he screams the house down" I can visualise my parents reaction to any of us refusing a meal and as much as I dearly loved my mum she could serve up some punishing endurance dinners.2 -
The lack of awareness from people when you're trying to get somewhere... Probably my own fault, but thought it would be nice to have a family trip up to London yesterday, visit the Natural History Museum, then run along to Hamleys (Used to love it there as a kid, and my Son has never been) before ending at the Lego Store and M&M World.
Trying to get round everyone though at any of those places, god my patience was sorely tested - At least at the end of the day, when we were on the Lizzy Line heading back home, someone got up from their seat to leave the train, and another passenger invited my wife and son to take the seat instead od them2 -
People, particularly BBC journalists and presenters, who use the word "myself" when they should use "me" or "I".
I'm sure they want to sound posh somehow but they just come across as being a bit thick.
(I never use the word myself.)8 -
People, normally socially inept people directing questions about the different food or drink options in an establishment we have both only just entered for the first time
"Want a pint?"
"Do they have Stones old maiden bitter?" (Or some other obscure shite)
Probably fucken not, why don't you ask the barman instead of me though

Similar to this, I help a friend run a bar sometimes, and at lunchtimes they have a specials board, last week they had paninis on it but it's different this week, cos that's how a specials board works.Carter said:People, normally socially inept people directing questions about the different food or drink options in an establishment we have both only just entered for the first time

This doesn’t annoy me, but I really can’t fathom how someone from the UK can reach adulthood without being aware of characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (I am, of course, making the assumption that you are from the UK.)Valley Ant said:Algarveaddick said:

To be fair, it doesn't annoy me either. Every day is a schoolday.

I thought the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory characters were timeless, clearly not. One for the "You know you're getting old..." page I fear.Valley Ant said:Algarveaddick said:

My Son had his EHCP approved a few weeks ago, but Medway Council thought his condition of ADHD, Autism, cognitive learning disorder wasn't enough to recommend him for a SEN School.
Got a call today from the person handling it all today, as they've been in touch with other schools we requested that he be considered for... The Comprehensive could take him but cant guarantee meeting his needs... The SEN school we asked for absolutely think he needs a SEN school but sadly don't have the space.
Yet despite that... the Council disagree!!0 -
Can you appeal the Council’s decision or will it make no difference anyway?ForeverAddickted said:My Son had his EHCP approved a few weeks ago, but Medway Council thought his condition of ADHD, Autism, cognitive learning disorder wasn't enough to recommend him for a SEN School.

Yeah definitely appealing... Just unnecessarily drags it all out.Arsenetatters said:

Youtube thumbnails that have a big arrow pointing to something in the picture, the height of dumbing down to the point of people being told what to look at.
I have provided some examples (Big arrow to point at them):

Bit random but I always groan when I hear somebody proudly boast that they used to bunk into games.
My first thought is no you didn't you attention seeking liar.
But even if you did what's gleefull about diddling your own club.
It puts me in mind of FA Cup final day back in the 60s and 70s when it was wall to wall TV coverage.
You always seemed to get some celebrity fan of one of the teams, some kind of Tommy Steele or Joe Brown character that always seemed to claim they bunked into games as a nipper.
No you didn't you weedy prick. You went to 3 games a season with your uncle Reg, had lemonade and crisps while he sank a pint then held his hand when he walked you to the turnstiles and paid. Twat!11 -

Oh boy. I was skint as a kid and I mean skint. The 10p it used to cost was a lot of money for me. I don't know if its me, but this is the second time I have put something on General Things That Annoy You which somebody has taken deadly seriously.
Really, It was just a flippant post on a football forum, I was never losing sleep at night over people bunking in to football matches.
I suppose things like nuance and having a twinkle in your eye don't come across in the written word.
Anyway, sorry if I offended.
Thanks for the offer of a drink, I don't drink before games these days. Was a time when it was part of the ritual, but I am a 72 year old fogey and I can't hack it anymore.
I'll raise a glass to you tonight though. And keep bunking in if it suits, don't mind me.

I know there could be reasons why some people don't, or possibly can't, but I am talking about people who appear to be perfectly capable of going upstairs on a very crowded bus, but choose not to. They can't all have genuine reasons for choosing to get in the way?1
