Without doubt the “Adrian” thread was one of the greatest things I’ve ever read on the internet…still makes me belly laugh to this day.

Am I imagining things @AFKABartram or did there use to be a Charltonlife football team? Hazy memories of playing by the A20?!

18 years for me in six days time. I'd have got less time for murder.

Well done chaps, hard work you put into this is indescribable, brilliant support unit that encapsulates what the Charlton Family is all about. Even a post about train delays tonight! Seriously, congratulations and thank you.

If we was buying a house 20 years ago, we’d only have 5 years left before being mortage free!!

(sorry but doesn’t feel right this thread has 4 pages and nobody even tried a house buying analogy!)
  • Happy 20th.  Great forum, well done to the mods for the efforts and longevity of it.

I joined a year late in August 2007.

I seem to recall trying to join before hand but failing to do so, but after a few months trying I snuck in and have never left.

it's weird the things that stick in your head when so many things get forgotten

20 years later I still remember my response to the screening question asking why I was signing up- 'Because AFKA asked me to'

happy birthday and thanks, it's been a good 20 years

Don’t wanna quote it, as so long, but that ChatGPT summary on page 2 is amazing and nearly brought a tear to my eye.

AFKA and Lookie you should both be very proud of what you have created.

My account was handed down to me by my father who in turn inherited it from his father. You never own a CL account, you merely look after it for the next generation.

Happy anniversary, Charlton life, and huge thanks to those whose fault it is  ;)

City of London, 2006; I'm upstairs in a pub and there are these two young guys with ideas...

But you don't want to hear that story again.

20 years, 35k members, the go to place for Charlton news read by fans and club staff alike. Congratulations and here's to plenty more decades.
They go on to form a successful tech company, which they sell to Google for £800m. Sadly you decline their invitation to join them, and instead join Charlton Life.

Joined Dec 2006. Thanks for the memories and all the hard work so far and here’s to the next 20 years!

It’s a cherished lifetime memory that due to CL I got to play at The Valley.

Here’s a throwback to sponsors’ dinner 2012. Shame I’ve got my eyes closed but less concerned about cuddling up to Matt Taylor (though not as besotted as Waggy!)

Anyone else owning up to being in this photo? My caption at the time was “Players immersed in Charlton Life”.

Gotta say, that ChatGPT assessment AFKA posted nails it for me. Those platforms are good at that sort of thing. Nothing that you couldn't probably line up to say yourself but you'd take ages , miss something, and it wouldn't be so clear and well structured.

And in the end that's all down to the moderators who have put in the hard yards over the 20  years, they are the ones who've made it such a class act, despite our best efforts to drive them nuts. Thank you all, you've created something that really has become part of our lives, and keeps so many people connected. Honestly I reckon AFKA and Lookie deserve signed copies of Addicks to Victory or something similar.

Happy belated birthday wish’s to my constant phone companion,it’s literally the only site I visit,1st thing in morn & pretty much whenever I grab my phone it’s the 1st port of call even on the bog,the wife thought I was having an affair, had to keep showing her the home page to prove it…🫣,also o couldn’t count of how many times I’ve tried to complete a whole page of reading all threads, even the ones I’m not interested or invested in,but it opens ya eyes up to stuff I would never have heard or seen before, love it…& I do chuckle to myself, just when I think I’ve read it all at an unearthly hr someone pops a comment in one of the the most random threads…thanks CL peeps & to all the guys behind the scenes, brilliant, here’s to this one & to many more Happy Birthdays…🥳🥳🥳

Congratulations and happy birthday.  Simply Cann’t imagine daily life without my fix of Charlton Life.  What a great thread and I echo every word of thanks to AFKA, LookOut and the other moderators and posters.  It was through Charlton Life that I got to meet Tel and many others through the sadly defunct Addicks Downunder. Happy years.  Thanks everybody.

Not sure when I joined under my old moniker Addickted, but I believe my first post was December 2007

This forum entertains, informs and infuriates me, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy Birthday and well done to all involved

  • I'd like to thank AFKA and Lookie for my only social media contact.  It's my first port of call in the morning and something I dip in and out of for the rest of the day.

When I enlisted in 2014 it was very fashionable for posters to tell other posters to 'Move on'.  I wondered how senior you had to be to do that?  Twelve years later I've never told anyone to 'Move on' so I guess you had to be pretty senior :s

(I know this site well enough to know what the next piece of advice coming my way will be).

January 2012 for me so a newbie but thats still gone so quickly. Can only echo what others have said. This site is utterly brilliant. Such a varied amount of discussion on here. Posts that can sometimes infuriate, bring a tear to your eye or make you belly laugh show what a rich and special community has been built over the years.

My wife moans about how much time i spend on here but always asks what the latest Charlton Life TV show recommendations are!

Thank you AFKA and LoOkOut for bringing this to life and all the other mods for keeping it clean!
