The return of Harry and Megan. So much for wanting to keep out the public eye.
I genuinely don't understand what the fuss is about. As a lifelong republican, I recognise that they have as much right to be here as anyone else. Whatever they have done, or not, there is no way on earth they are the worst of the royal family.
Home is always home, in some ways I’ve turned my back on the UK and have no intention of ever returning  permanently. (I know you’ll read this mum, I’ll always love you)

However having the safety net of being able to return at anytime was huge to me, especially early on.

If I can do it, why can’t they?

Because they wanted to get away from the media and Harry stupidly wrote a book which has caused embarrassment and - surprise surprise- media attention.
I’m guessing you didn’t leave the uk to avoid the media, write a book slagging off your well known family. Oh and are you royal? So it makes a big difference.
Why do you care? Especially when other members of the same family are literal nonces.
Yea but the other one is a ginger.

It's the huge amount of airtime that the news that Harry & Megan are returning to the UK, is getting, that annoys me.

BBC Breakfast had a reporter outside Windsor Castle this morning. When the studio presenter asked her if there were any updates, she said no. The report could have been done from the studio, not by having a reporter standing outside Windsor castle, unable to report anything new.
Ah, so that's what we pay our licence fee for!
Reporter is still outside Windsor Castle as I type.
It could be worse,  like when the the reporters interview each other.

I care because the media interest is going to get even more silly and I have much more interest in other news which will now be treated as ‘and finally’.

the only reason they are coming here (like with pretty much all their decisions) is to help Meghan's career. It's now safe over here all over a sudden and what great timing as it coincides with a job offer for a netflix series The Gentleman...Just need to find a place in the cotswolds.. where she can quietly get on with lovingly making pots of jam..

I really don’t understand the irrational hate towards Meghan or why people work themselves up over nothing. Get on with your life.

The media post about them because they see people like you commenting about them all the time.

People arguing for and against them means more eyes and revenue for the media

No hate here but yes a lot of negativity. They moan about press coverage all the time yet court publicity at every opportunity. The woman falls out with literally everyone in her life. My view is let them live where they want in the world, give them peace and don’t give them the coverage that they seek. Personally I’m not the slightest bit interested but the constant media circus will be full on I’m sure.
the only think I’m bothered about is her appearance will taint The Gentleman as she is a shit actor lol

When a lorry attempts to overtake another lorry on the motorway and makes no progress whatsoever.
I agree entirely, however a mate did explain it to me once.

Basically it takes them a long while to get up a head of steam, if they slow down, especially on an upward gradient, they take ages to get going again. When they are under time pressure due to tachographs or tough deadlines every second counts.
The problem is they mostly have 1 or 2 mph over the other truck. That would be gaining 1 or 2 miles each hour on the slower truck. If they drive for 5 hours they are gaining 5 or 10 miles.
It would take them just over 5 mins or just under 11 minutes to drive the time they lost.
Not really sure that is going to cause that much of a time issue.
If their speed restrictors were all accurate they would all be doing 56mph. So would only need to overtake the trucks going substantially slower.
No problem on 3 lane carriageways ,  but 2 lane is a nightmare for faster vehicles and when busy often dangerous. A1 is notorious for this in the 2 lane sections.

Despite all the warnings, people who throw their cigarette butts out of their car window. I was behind a car this morning and the driver kept flicking his ash out of the window. That's not good, but he then threw the butt out of the window too. Absolute moron.

We had a little rain last week, but certainly not enough to remove the fire risk. Apart from the fire risk, it is littering and cigarette butts are dangerous to wildlife.

When I go round litter picking I find lots of cigarette butts. Had one last week that someone must have chucked out the window as they went by me as it burnt a hole in my black bin liner!

You talk to 90% of smokers and I'd bet they would agree that littering is scum behaviour and they would never dream of doing that, they hate people who litter etc. Then they finish smoking their fag, ding it out of the window or drop it in the floor and stamp it out.

I think it was someone on here who used the phrase smoking is a gateway drug to littering. Once it's acceptable in your mind to drop the butt its only a small leap to dropping the plastic the packet comes in, and then the packet, and then whatever else you want.

Being a leaseholder and resident in a block of flats where every other flat is owned by a non-resident private landlord. They employ and control (using this countries terrible legislation) useless agents who get paid to do virtually nothing so that the landlords don't have to pay to have things properly maintained because god forbid there be any restriction on their ability to exploit their tenants to maximise their profits. This results in those tenants having no incentive whatsoever to give a damn about their local community and a downward spiral ensues.

My son has bought a property this year, an ex-HMO. Its had the most minimum maintenance done to it since it was built 40 years ago, just the basics to keep it legal. The landlord who was the original owner has lived abroad for many years, he cut up a family house/home and squeezed 4 families and 12 children into this 4 bed house. Thats not an exaggeration, 20 people in one house, that bit couldn't have been legal as well as being a vile way to treat fellow humans.
I can see, (we've smashed a few things out), that it has only been redecorated once since new, that was to sell it and that was a landlord special, one coat of paint thrown on thick.
The landlord has had some fantastic money out of this house but he couldn't or wouldn't do anything to improve the lives of those who have paid the mortgage on it. Also the neighbours have had to put up with hell and seen their property value suffer because of him. I struggle to believe there are nice landlords.

People playing music videos out loud on trains is always annoying.

When it's a bloke in his 50s playing tik toks it's even more annoying.

When those tik toks are obviously AI generated slop thirst traps it's fucking ridiculous.

Bit harsh, based on one experience, we are all horrible? In the place we let out we have just paid for a new front door and the whole surround (having paid for new locks a couple of years ago, even though it was the tennant's fault). We Also replaced the bathroom two years ago, which basically wrote off a years income. We charge 25% less than the going rate for the area.

I have mentioned this before but flies.

Take my dog out for her early pm walk, customary dump and before I could even bend down to pick it up (in a poo bag), two flies appear from nowhere and land on said evacuation of waste. Now where the f*** were they hiding to appear within a second of turd hitting the scorched grass? Put my hand down to pick it up but even as I'm doing so, they're literally battling me over custody of the excrement.

I hate the buzzy little pointless f**** with a passion.

Coincidently I thought the exact same thing as it happened to me this morning also, perhaps there is dog poop shortage at the mo and competition is tough.

Taking my dog with us for a family day out with the grandkids only to find out that she's not allowed in pretty much anywhere we want to go.
I understand the reasons but it's very frustrating.
