I genuinely worry about the future of the beautiful game. It’s sold its soul to billionaires. All very “lovely” in a brand new stadium. But it ain’t real football for me. And our approach to it stank - not sure whether to try or just give in. Basically we chose the latter. Long day. Night night.

Compare and contrast with the wonderful night we had at Old Trafford not so long ago - thank you Dean Holden.NJ will have to cope now with the consequences of lack of centre halves and a shuddering halt to the strong momentum we’d been building. So we now don’t complete JRS signing because of this?!To play young and new players (Mesik, Ouma, Collins, Alli, MBick) who we are looking to integrate into the first team squad alongside those he has made it obvious are on their way out (Apter, Knibbs, Asiimwe, Doc) makes no sense whatsoever to me. And as for throwing Brooks in at the deep end when we have a new keeper champing at the bit to play?Good (no not really) night from me.

The backlash is probably lessened because it was a relatively local game for the majority of that away end. But how would people feel if this was Man U away again or even worse Newcastle? You’ve travelled all the way up there, with all the expense that involves, only for NJ to effectively feed them the C team who would duly get tonked.

Perhaps they thought if the club didnt want to treat it seriously then why should they. Or they were too busy swapping shirts.
Very let down by everyone tonight. Only player that came out with any credit was Asimwee.

In future I'm not going to bother with cup games. 3 wins on the bounce just beaten westham at the weekend so why break that momentum with so many changes for a local derby in a cup game ,with nearly 6,000 of us there tonight ....i dont get that logic ,a few changes yes but not 11 instead we go into the weekend on a heavy loss now7

Just got home.
To say this evening was a disappointment is a massive understatement.
WTF was that team? By all means rest two, three, heck, even four but put out a decent and coherent team. That starting line was shocking and sucked the jam out the fans' donuts before we'd even started.
What is the point of having a loyalty points scheme for away matches when the fans' loyalty is "rewarded" with a side like that? It should have been a good occasion, a chance for our players to test themselves against Premier League oppo and we had that instead. It was like travelling back in time to last season with our slow, inept midfield.
Docherty, Apter and Knibbs did themselves no favours whatsoever.
I thought Asiimwe did OK given he seemed to be moved along the back line every few minutes in the first half.
Mbick had his moments with what little possession we had, Mwamba had a storming second-half cameo. Miles did well too.
Well done L Jones for yet another goal and D-Mac put himself about a bit, bundling oppo players over which was nice to see.
The ref was a joke ... but that was to be expected.

Didn't watch as it was 4.30am here.
So maybe I'm seeing things from a different perspective than those who went and are feeling so down.
Told my other half yesterday that I'd be fine with a 5-1 and actually expected it, I just didn't want to see an embarrassing 7 against !
The injuries are a real downer, but just typical of our luck.
But Sichenje hadn't been starting anyway and despite very promising cameos, hasn't yet established himself as a starter. Hopefully it isn't as bad as feared and he comes back quickly.
Billy will be a big miss because he's looked great. But we have Mesik or Bell who can cover, with Josh hopefully not too far away.
Of course we will probably need to now bring in some cover, perhaps a loan.
Jones's post match comments are concerning especially as they relate to our transfer targets.
But hopefully it doesn't scupper the JRS deal.
It may even strengthen our hand when negotiating with Palace, in that, our priorities have now changed.
Attack is the best form of defence and having a potent forward line with JRS in it, could go a long way to coping with the loss of Billy K.

Same old shit , zero interest in this fixture youngest son wanted to go so I took him .
The others made their own way there except boffin who just couldn’t be bothered , I knew he was the clever one. He’s been Carlisle and plenty of other shithouse trips a million miles away but Spurs against our reserves , nope .
All this new ground oooooh we’re playing spurs excitement not for me , our first Xl would get schooled never mind the expected stiffs .No idea how many changes they made or how strong they were but Chelsea’s 1-5 last year when they made lots of changes was a warning .
How I yearn for the good old days when we’d go there and beat them cunts .
they would have had a lot of fans there who don’t go to the proper fixtures when first teams actually play and it’s not a game as a spurs fan you’re gonna get excited about , so no surprise fuck all atmosphere from then .We’d hardly be lively with a local derby against Wimbledon or Cray Valley .
it is what it is just hope we go back to drawing shit teams and sneak our way further in to the FA Cup where if we get far enough and appear to be safe in the league (no chance) and can put out a strong team and have a go .

I appreciate that it’s annoying not seeing the best lineup if you had a ticket but Jones made 10 changes and the one change he didn’t make resulted in an injury to that player potentially so devastating we might not be able to sign JRS as a result. The margins are so fine at this level across so many departments1

Because it got treated as a final Pre-Season game for those starting vs Derby the following week, especially as last night was the first time the eleven has been changed since.AFKABartram said:

Watched Doc at the end of the game, he came over to the away fans, stood there with hands on hips seeming to take it all in, gave a big sigh, I think that was his last appearance for us.3

Really do feel for you and all fans who bought tickets. Whilst part of me understands the rationale for resting players for these games, it really does make a mockery of the competition. As I understand, in the EFL Cup each team receives 45% of the gate receipts with 10% going to the EFL. Can only echo the thoughts of many
Saw the line up on the train to WHL and was instantly deflated, pretty sure most fans felt it as
despite the numbers and a bit of noise early we were flat as well, Expect a better atmosphere with 1k at West Brom in a week
Game just highlighted the huge gulf between our first 11 and the rest but the frustrating thing was Spurs were fairly timid in that first half, Carey TC Grant and Leaburn may have caused some damage, we’ll never know now…
Spurs fans very muggy post game as expected I’ve never liked them, taking the piss and getting aggy with a few of our lot for beating our third team, behave.
