Yeah I really fucked it. Should never have got excited. I'm the reason we can't have nice things. Been overdue a bit of abuse on here... dont deserve to be happy.AFKABartram said:

Made in Sparrows lane. Chelsea, vermin that they are, pinched him off us when he was about 16/17.cazo said:Palmer of Luton looks a good player strong and fast. Cm
He went for decent money to Bristol City, but his career trajectory seems to be down the leagues rather than up now. Fancy Luton to do well this season but not the sort of player we should really be looking at, turning 30 soon and just signed permanently for them in L1.6 -

I don’t think Mills can make the transfer until January anyway??0

He can, they had originally agreed that he would be going in Jan but that’s changed.Danny Addick said:I don’t think Mills can make the transfer until January anyway??Oxford are under a registration embargo3 -

Chuks Aneke was at the game last night.
Bring Him Back!10 -
Sigh. We're going to have to sign Tom Iorpenda aren't we?13
-
So we have one fit central defender in LJ.
presumably we now need 2 central defenders ?0 -
Maybe Ronnie Moore is JRS agent.3

Mesik said when joining his preferred position was CB but at the time we had loads. Now we dont.21

Mesik has played there, although it might have been as part of a back three. Edwards played on the left of a back three in Scotland. And obviously Amari'i Bell has played on the left of a back three.BigDiddy said:So we have one fit central defender in LJ.

I expect Mesik and Bell to start on Saturday, although I'm not sure in which order. That being said, unless we bring someone new in, it looks like we won't have a CB on the bench.
It's a shame we don't still have Gough around. I don't fault the decision to loan him out at all, and the club clearly see him as a CM in the future, but he would come in handy right now. Can play CB and played on the left of a CB pairing in pre-season, which we need with Jones being right sided.
I expect one CB in, maybe a loan or a free, before the window shuts. It's stupid unlucky to lose both your CBs at the same time, we do still have some cover, albeit not ideal cover, there.
A word for those who built the squad. Having versatile players can really come in handy.2 -
I think that was in a 3 though.Alwaysneil said:Mesik said when joining his preferred position was CB but at the time we had loads. Now we dont.
I'm sure on Saturday we'll see him and Bell starting, but with Jones and Mcnamara also playing we don't really have any bench cover at all.
No doubt Asiimwe will be on the bench, maybe one of the under 21s too1 -
Multiple weeks currently. This was the risk resigning him sadlyking addick said:
Could be that Godden is worse than anticipated.Bolderhumphreyreid said:Seeing as @stjohnshill told us earlier we’re possibly looking at getting a striker in is this because we now want to send Mbick out on loan again?
Personally I’d still keep Kanu as long as could convince him to sign a new contract although I know that won’t be easy.3 -
After last summer, I can entirely understand caution about spending money. It's extraordinary how few of last season's signings have come offBraziliance said:I am a bit gutted about JRS, but I have to be honest, I've learned now to just keep schtum a bit and trust in Jones.
If you look at all the big money (for us) signings we have made, almost every single one of them has flopped. Charlie Kirk, Igor Vetokele (injuries), Ronnie Schwartz, Nicky Ajose, Rob Apter, Harvey Knibbs, Charlie Kelman (admittedly still have a bit of faith here), Diallang Jaiyesimi and I am probably forgetting a few.
All our most impactful players over the years have been freebies, cheap fees (May, Lyle?), Loans or academy lads.
It's disappointing and I hope it still happens, but I could name about 30 players in even recent history who I have wanted us to sign and they never really did much.
Still a lot of positives this window 👍🏻
When you think of our mainstay players now, more of them are from our L1 team - TC, Leaburn, Ramsay, Jones, Coventry, plus Edwards (hopefully) and Godden (maybe) - than from last season's signings - Carey, Bell, and Kelman (maybe).
Kelman - done okish, without ever really establishing himself as our leading striker
Tanto - flop, loaned out twice
Apter - loaned out last January, likely to be pushed out again
Knibbs - fringe player
Kaminski - did ok without being brilliant, then fell out with Jones
JRC - squad player, not trusted by NJ
Burke - always injured
Then in January
Sichenje - looked promising, but a series of serious injuries
Leaving the 2 successes, Carey and Bell, both relatively unheralded free transfers.4 -

I’ve seen a photo and he’s lost loads of bulk. I wouldn’t have recognised him.CafcSteve said:Chuks Aneke was at the game last night.

So frustrating. One of the main things I was excited about from the window was having depth in defence (although admittedly sounds boring when you say it like that!). Cannot face another season of square pegs in round holes and our form taking a dive as a result. So unlucky to have three defenders go down within the first few weeks of the season. Have to hope Josh really is back soon and Ramsay not too far behind.1

Personally didn't want to re-sign him for that reason but hard to ignore that pedigree he has.stjohnshill said:

Don't suppose you know for sure what positions have been made a priority given recent regulations?0
