I wonder if we will bring in a centre back (on loan probably) before Saturday?

It would be a mad rush, but I'm sure Chapple and co will have a contingency list of replacements in all positions, just in case of late injuries or indeed unexpected transfer exits.

Get someone signed by tomorrow noon, to take their place on the bench on Saturday.

    @TheNotoriousBWP

Not the done thing to quote Cawley substack in full as it's how he makes his living.
I do agree with what you say, but it is frustrating for fans who choose not to subscribe to his substack for what ever reason to not hear 'first hand' important news through official channels e.g one interview with reporters and one through the official channels after the match last night.

It feels like there are two levels of information leaked to fans, i.e those who pay and those that don't. This isn't the first time. Sorry to feal negative on this point.
Why not pay for it if you want it, it's the same concept as buying a newspaper. Have you ever bought one of those?
Thanks for the advice, believe it or not I do realise I can subscribe if I choose too!. And just for completness  I do buy newspapers and even subscribe to some 🙄.

As I said in my comments, I appreciate that Cawley earns a living from it and not blaming him at all.

     Cheers!

This is what I'm expecting to happen. I can't see us allowing ourselves to go into Saturday with Asiimwe and one of the U21 CBs as the cover on the bench defensively.

Think PC will have been on the phone all day today to get something across the line.

Or Jim has desperately been trying to get Gough/Mitchell/Laq back as a contingency

Don't think we can get Gough back , not sure about Mitchell with it being Scotland but Laq I assume would be straightforward.

I think you're right about Gough which is a shame as he'd be the best option

I don’t wholly see the rush for Saturday, I’d far rather they took the next few days to get someone right. Our starting defence is strong. We have Chalobah who can fill in at cb in an emergency, I’d assume Asiimwe will be on the bench but JRC can play full back too in an emergency. For one game I think we’re ok.

So frustrating. One of the main things I was excited about from the window was having depth in defence (although admittedly sounds boring when you say it like that!). Cannot face another season of square pegs in round holes and our form taking a dive as a result. So unlucky to have three defenders go down within the first few weeks of the season. Have to hope Josh really is back soon and Ramsay not too far behind.
We also don't have proper wingbacks ( maybe Mesik) so going to three at the back is tricky too.

Yeah I think we will be ok with just Asiimwe on the bench. If there’s an injury then he can go to full back and then Bell or McNamara can fill in at centre back if needed. Rather we get a good signing on Tuesday than rush one in tomorrow

Burnley look to be another one struggling to get their squad size down. One mention of JRS's move collapsing , rest is about how much they need a CDM.

Some poster called Donnie Score letting everyone know the weather report and quoting the Penzance Cornishman for any of their transfer rumours

Seeing as @stjohnshill told us earlier we’re possibly looking at getting a striker in is this because we now want to send Mbick out on loan again?

Personally I’d still keep Kanu as long as could convince him to sign a new contract although I know that won’t be easy.
Could be that Godden is worse than anticipated.
Multiple weeks currently. This was the risk resigning him sadly
Personally didn't want to re-sign him for that reason but hard to ignore that pedigree he has.

Don't suppose you know for sure what positions have been made a priority given recent regulations?
CB, RW and maybe a striker. Need to shift about 5/6 too

    We move on -

Injuries will be crucial this year - we have a mid table first eleven that becomes bottom 6 if crucial players get injured.

    Jones will be juggling again.

He desperately wants us to do well and will put pressure where he can to get us outcomes.

    so the 5/6 would be

    Kaminski
    Asiimwe
    Apter
    Doc
    Knibbs?

Would be happy for Coventry to sign a 2yr, decent squad player if he gets displaced by better.

Let’s not forget his current CM partner is extremely injury prone.
For two years I would have been quite indifferent to Coventry leaving, but with all our present turmoil I think a little "normalcy" cannot be undervalued. Besides which, he has just put in the two best performances I have seen from him.
