We were on the verge of splashing £5m on Rak Sakyi. We’ve brought in a prem loan CB. The money is obviously still there for a RW and surely it’s in the clubs best interests to go for one that might cost a few quid as opposed to someone possibly on loan that we’ll struggle to get 15 games out of. The fascination with injury ridden ex Luton players needs to stop if we actually want to evolve. Might not be loaded as such but we evidently do have a bit of money to splash otherwise we wouldn’t have been so close to getting JRS.Cafc451 said:

So my views on all the options for RW as they appear (until JRS goes somewhere else I will keep him in this list):
- McCowatt (probably the one I can imagine being steady and reliable based on nothing but gut feel - can imagine him being solid enough)
- JRS (still feels like he has the highest ceiling by far, would unite the fanbase, but would we be at risk of the second-time-around scenario where he ultimately disappoints?)
- Ogbene (the cheap option which feels like a stop gap - lack of fitness in recent years.... you fear we have been here many times before)
- Tyrese Shade (ironically can imagine him doing ok for us.... or whoever else he goes to in the champ. Seems to have good strength, pace and can certainly wrap his food around the ball when shooting to Martin Sandgaard levels).
Prem Loan or free agent (would prefer someone like Reiss Nelson to Ogbene - same scenario of a lack of recent game time, but Nelson would have a higher ceiling).
If JRS doesnt end up going anywhere on a perm due to these issues, then I would be more comfortable on a loan to see if he does indeed hit the heights we are hoping. But sure someone would take the punt - so in that case I would probably veer towards McCowatt.
OR EVEN BETTER.....

Yeah, nowhere near the team yet seriously how much of a gulf, given our present circumstances, is there between his obvious competitors? An ageing and fragile Godden, an enigmatic uncertain and injured Kelman, is Daniel Kanu really way behind those two?
I don't know what's actually going on or the factors to consider, but it would be good if this all played out in a dignified and all round successful way.3 -
