Was debating whether it would be Docherty or Ouma on the bench but with everything that’s happened this week, I think Docherty being in the squad helps keep everyone calmer. Likely to be the last time he’s included in the squad before he moves on.

It feels like a big game, this. Preston started with two defeats and like us lost by four goals in the cup in midweek. We've started well obviously. But with all the injuries and the back and forth on transfer dealings during the week, plus the big loss to Spurs, it feels like this game takes on an added significance.
Someone mentioned JRC starting, which I could see. His vision is excellent. And he can run with the ball, which is part of what Carey is in there to do. Carey is a pressing monster, but tomorrow I'd expect we'll have more of the ball (or at least more than against West Ham) and JRC's cleverness of movement and ability to pick a pass could help to unlock the Preston defense. Or maybe that's a reason to go with Carey's shoot on sight mentality. I'd probably pick Carey and bring JRC on, but I suspect NJ might go other way round.
How we line up at the back will be crucial. NJ said Billy was "just a precaution," but I don't know if that's a two day precaution, or a two week precaution. He's obviously not always the most straightforward about injuries. So I'm expecting Bell and Mesik, with Mesik at CB and Bell at LB, but again, we'll see.
I'd really like to win this and go three from three. It just feels like it would be a massive lift after the rubbish week we've had. And I say that as one who wasn't as excited for JRS as some on here (I wanted him back, don't get me wrong, but I'm very much on the WIOTOS camp).0 -
I really don’t get this Carey thing. He’s not a worry, the way we are playing this season we need 3 runners behind the striker, if Carey is one thing it’s a willing runner. He’s been fine this season and it’s a complete non-issue. Apter was lightweight and totally ineffective, but he tried.
in my view, none are good enough, but Apter deserves another shot.
I personally think he will be much more effective given a modicum of time.

I don’t think chasing the money and going to Preston was the right move for him. I know they’re a stable championship club but in hindsight it’s not a huge step up compared to us. He’s still very young though with a lot of talent you don’t get called up to England u21 for no reason so I think he’ll come good.MuttleyCAFC said:Small hasn't really pushed on like I thought he would. Of the three early season pace setters, we are the only one at home this weekend while Albion and the Spanners both have tough away games at Boro and Southampton, respectively. With a winnable looking fixture for us, there's a decent chance we could be clear top by 5 o'clock, albeit after only 3 games.
Which, of course means, we're going to lose 3-0 and at least two of TC, Chalobah, or Leaburn will leave the pitch injured. It's just the way we do things around here.

Haven’t heard NJ’s presser yet but I’m wondering if he’s overplaying the possible inclusion of Koumetio or Burke to keep Preston guessing. I also think for the same reason that Tyler Bindon signed today and will play and we just want Preston to find out as late as possible. I’m probably overthinking it but ……2

Whilst I don't think Big Billy will start, he may sneak on the bench!
Very much a game there to be won. Forget the spurs result, we can show we can grab decent results against good teams.
Preston have started badly and a couple of signings won't change that instantly, need to be ruthless and take advantage.
