Hi everyone, a wet one today eh…

Well, after the debacle in North London Wednesday, today we get back to the bread and butter stuff of Championship football, and welcome Preston Nth End onto the hallowed turf that is The Valley for a match we should feel very confident of finishing with another three points in the bag, and continuing our 100% league start to the season.

Preston come to us today sitting in 21st spot and pointless after the first two matches, and also suffering a 0-4 cup exit Wednesday when at home to Everton.

TEAM NEWS…Collins Sichenje and Billy Koumetio were forced off through injury on Wednesday and join Kayne Ramsay on the sidelines. Josh Edwards and Charlie Kelman have both returned to training, but today's game comes too soon for the pair. The visitors will be without Ali McCann, Brad Potts and Theo Carroll.

HEAD-TO-HEAD…We've met on 77 previous occasions, winning 24, the Lilywhites winning 39 and the remaining 14 fixtures resulting in draws, Preston ran out 2-1 victors when the sides last met at The Valley in April coming back from a JRC opener with Brad Potts netting the winner, Charlton's last triumph over North End in SE7 came in November 2011, when Chris Powell's side ran out 5-2 victors in their League One winning season, a repeat of that score would be most acceptable…

Tom Reeves will oversee proceedings today, he took charge of 39 games last season, dishing out 120 yellow cards and one red.

TEAM…Charlton: Okonkwo; McNamara, Jones (c), Mesík, Bell; Coventry, Chalobah; Campbell, Carey, Grant; Leaburn

Subs: Brooks, Asiimwe, Ouma, Rankin-Costello, Mwamba, Knibbs, Alli, Apter, Mbick

Be interesting to see the backline and if any of the injured make it.

Dont think Bell is a CB in a 4.... so does that mean Mesik steps in, or perhaps Burke starts as a wildcard with Binden to come on Weds at West Brom?

  • Strong despite the injuries, but only Asiimwe as defensive cover is worrying.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bell LCB and Mesík LB though

As expected line up. Let's hope that 11 can do the business as there isn't much off the bench to inspire, especially up top.

As much I think this is good , Knibbs and Ouma are lucky boys to be on the bench ahead of him.

I reckon we'll see Mesik LCB and Bell LB, agreed Asiimwe as only defensive cover is a concern, let's hope we have some positive luck in that regard after the nightmare at Spurs

    Team as expected.

Not many game changers on the bench & only 1 defender. Bare bones already.

Just the one change as expected. It did sound a bit of a blag that Burke is 'fine' as I'm sure we wouldn't have gone in with no CB cover.

    COYR!

It’s 2 out and 2 in from last week really.  Edwards and Kelman close to a return .

He’s training on the pitch on his own with a coach.

Need Bindon in for Weds to give the cover defensively, and hope Koumetio is indeed not far away. No arguments with the team - I also hope we see Mesik LCB and Bell LB.

Wonder how far Edward’s and Kelman are from being back in the team?

Asiimwe on the bench in the Championship? Blimey. I expected a League Two or NL move by now.

Says a lot for his professionalism that he's willing to do that. We've outgrown him but will still be a shame when he moves on.

Why would you play Doc when he is off in the next few days.

I would. Physically Mesik is so much more suited to CB in a 2 than Bell.

Kelman nearer than Edwards According to Jones Kelman was flying in training.

If you were Preston you'd put lots of balls behind the defence and try to run them ragged knowing they can't really be subbed off.

He's the extra man for the squad at the moment, still comes along and is in the dressing room instead of the stands as he's the captain and will still be a part of the team talks, motivation and setting the example. Whatever you think of his footballing skills he's clearly an exemplary pro

What’s he done to suggest he’s that bad ?
